With April racing towards us our thoughts also turn to our first R3 run of the year; Clear away the Cobwebs. Asked if we could look at doing some our favourite routes again taking in some of our Northumberland castles and coastal routes, with stops at Walkworth Castle, Alnwick Castle and/or Bamburgh. Suggestions have been made that some people would like to spend more time looking around Walkworth before heading off to enjoy a fantastic Sunday lunch at Alnwick Gardens tree house. We may change some of the route and starting point from the last time we did this run just to add some variety. I am also looking at the possibilty of other places to visit on route. Just a heads up for dates for your diary and once again appreciate an idea of numbers who may like to join in. Any members from other regions are more than welcome to join in why not come along and enjoy some of our R3 hospitalty.

Cheers Greg! We are always up for a good run out and definitely up for Sunday lunch at the Treehouse, bring on the Roasties!!

Sorry Greg, that's the same weekend as the WEC at Silverstone.

Mind you, I am still waiting to here whether I am going to get any free tickets or in-field pass through the club...

Count us in - did a lovely run (70 miles) round Weardale on Saturday and we are now raring to go for the Spring !

Quick update on our planned run for this coming Sunday. We are really hoping we can have another weekend like this one weather wise. We are planning to meet around 9.30 in the carpark just off the North Shields Fish quay and aiming to leave at 10.00am. If coming down Tanners Bank turn in just after the white Caley Fisheries building, behind W J Hunter & co enginners. If coming along the fish quay from the other end second right past the Staith house Pub (the blue building) the car park is sign posted Low Lights car park & RNLI. The nearest postcode is NE30 1HR. There is a toilet block at the carpark for anyone travelling quite a distance prior to the start. When we leave we be will heading north along our beautiful coastline at a leisurely pace and prior to our first stop at Warkworth castle. On arriving at Warkworth Castle(NE65 0UJ) you will be given plenty of time to have a good look round before heading off the 7 mile leg onto Alnwick Treehouse and Gardens for lunch. May I remind anyone wishing to have lunch in the treehouse if you have not already done so, you will need to book a table for 1pm to ensure they can fit us all in. If you have not been before it's well worth a visit contact 01665 511852 or see http://www.alnwickgarden.com/explore/whats-here/the-treehouse/restaurant. On arriving at Alnwick gardens please follow signs into the disabled parking, also sign posted coach drop off. (carpark on the left as you approach) special car parking at the foot of the treehouse has been negotiated; great chance to get the camera out. After lunch we intend to do the last planned leg of our castle tours heading off to our final destination Bamburgh Castle. After this you are free to do as you wish either stay as a group and head back south, spend time exploring on your own, or you may even wish to stay at Alnwick gardens after lunch to spend more time there, the choice is yours.

Meet at 9.30
Leave at 10.00
Walkworth Castle around 11.00
Leave at 12.15
Alnwick Treehouse 12.30
Lunch 1.00-2.30

Just home from a thoroughly enjoyable road trip. The weather was naff but it didn't spoil the day. Thanks to Graham, Moira, Deb & Greg for all your hard work organising these events for us. It is appreciated. Looking forward to the next one already !

As if us hardy Northerners are going to let a drop of rain and freezing cold winds stop us from having a brill time!! Huge thanks to Greg &Debs for organizing our first trip of the year here's to the next one

We echo the above, great being in a Porsche convoy and good food at the Tree House. Looking forward to the Whitby trip, hopefully better weather.
