Clear Away the Cobwebs Sunday 1st April 2018

Yes what a superb day out, it's only cost me close to £500 and that's if the rim on my car isn't cracked! It's one thing to organise a run but to pre-drive it and then arrange for a detour onto some of the worst roads in the North East of England covered with chippings and pot holes in cars with low profile tyres astounds me!

I know people will say we warned about potholes, that might be okay when you have a co driver who is following the route. The pot hole I hit I had no chance of avoiding with a car coming towards me, it wasn't so much a pot hole as a sink hole!

If it wasn't for David Chapman, who luckily had a space saver and stopped to help I'd have been well and truly stuck. Thanks David, i'll get your spare back to you as soon as possible. Sorry but today for me was no fun at all, it was ridiculous.

Hi Greg & Debs,

Thanks for organising a great drive out. This was our 1st drive out with R3 and to hear the sound of the cars leaving Beamish was awesome! especially the Turbo's..

Took us 2 hrs to get to Otterburn but only 50 mins to get home, must have been following some slow cars on the way up eh!! Weather permitting give the car a good old scrub up tomorrow.

Gary & Helen.

Hi Greg & Deb

Thanks for arranging a great day out - route was great (you can’t help the potholes they’re everywhere - try Glasgow city centre, they take on a whole new meaning!) - any damage caused should be claimed from the local authority. Lunch very nice & a great crowd. Pity we managed to lose some of our convoy and we didn’t get lost but still a great run. Trev & Rita

Glad you made it back ok Nick.

2 things:

1: It’s David not Dave [;)]

2: That wheel better be waxed inside and out [:D]

Thank you Greg & Deb for organising such a great day, honestly don’t know where you find the time. Targa is ckean & dry and tucked up in its bed. Hopefully see you next week. Thanks again, Adam & Ruth

Pot holes, what pot holes, the Panamera glides imperiously above all imperfections... and my wheels need waxing too :ROFLMAO:

Hi Greg and Deb,

Thanks so much for organising another great day out. Good roads, good company and a great lead car back!

Hi Greg &Debs

Really enjoyed our first road trip with R3, great drive to Otterburn, missed all potholes but no junctions!! Looking forward to the next one.

Keith & Dianne

Fantastic day! Thank you Greg and Deb for a very well organised event. Super drive finished off with a great meal and even better company.

Hopefully see you all again next Sunday.

David and Michelle

Hi Greg and Deb,

Thanks for a great day out, we were the last to leave with David & Michelle and Keith and Allison at 5:30pm.

Thanks again,

Tony and Christine

Thank you for the many kind words regarding our first scheduled run of the season. Apologies if you had to wait a little while for your meal at Otterburn Castle, due to some confusion over timings by the staff, but I’m sure you will all agree that it was well worth the wait.

Despite this run almost being cancelled yesterday at the 11th hour due to pending snow and weather forecasts, I think we were indeed very fortunate with the weather today. We had another great turn out with over 60 happy members with 37 cars park up outside Otterburn Castle without issue.

Deb and I always spend a lot of time planning and worrying about events like this and listen to what the majority of our members tell us they want. Not many tell us they enjoy just going from A-B on a motorway when we have some of the finest driving roads in the country right on our doorstep. Our members tell us they prefer to get out and feel how these fantastic cars perform through undulating & twisty B roads.

As with every event we organise, we welcome all feedback, it enables us to offer our members better experiences.

Another cracking cobwebs, can't believe its was out fourth, time does fly. Another big thumbs up to Deb and Greg (don't know where you get the time), another cracking route, lovely place to have a meal, drink and chew the fat with friends. As for the condition of the roads unfortunately that seems to be the norm now. I hit a big one, couldn't avoid it as a land rover was coming the other way as I approached it. I think they feel worse than they actually are, especially with low profiles, lowered suspension and 19" rims. Anyway crab claws seem unbreakable and no damage done.

Had a cracking drive back on the A696 totally empty until we got to Ponteland, never been known. It's a cracking rd!!!!

Cheers again Deb and Greg.

Sun, rain, sleet, snow, cold, wind, potholes, grit, salt .......and lunch......Ham and Peas-pudding sandwiches in my case...:ROFLMAO:

A typical north east Easter weekend, we just needed fire and pestilence to make it complete.......OK forget the fire and pestilence.

Thanks for all the effort in organising another great run Greg and Deb. I must have been promoted since I now have the badge to prove it, thanks Dave C. See you next Sunday.

Another excellent drive, love driving the crazy back roads especially top down in the snow!

Thanks to Greg & Deb for a great day out 👍

Hope to see you all again next weekend!

Just wanted to say how much we both enjoyed yesterdays event, our first with the club, super route with very well thought out historical info and accurate tulips! we found people really great, friendly and welcoming, start and finish venues excellent, the staff at Otterburn Castle particularly good at accepting a slight misunderstanding, and dealing with it in a good way. Unfortunately had to leave early as we made arrangements to see a relative in hospital over the border, we finished up clocking up over 300 miles on the day and enjoyed most of it except the motorways! might be tempted to use the earlier car a bit more (3.2 Carrera sport) as it deals with the extremes of Highways Britain 2018 a bit better.

Thanks again for the significant effort will see you sometime soon

best regards Colin and aileen Stewart

Hey Pot Holes are Pot Holes in fact they make driving more exciting as they can flick the arse end out which is fab. Perhaps Wades of Durham could assist members .......... or "Specsavers" [:D]

Thanks for great day out. Carols first.

Lovely drive out

glad the last few miles were in convoy as my navigator overheated and switched herself to standby mode. and fell asleep.

Cheers again Andy & Carol

Thank you Greg and Deb, had great drive out, me and Ad really appreciate the time you all put into making a brilliant route to enjoy the cars, we had to peel off around 12ish for peace keeping with the other halfs but we were buzzing from the fun of it. 😁

Great day yesterday for the first run out of the year.... [:)]

Another job well done to Greg and Deb.
