A very nice lady from the Mercedes Owners Club phoned me late last year about the possibility of a joint Karting Event with members of Porsche Club GB, Mercedes Owners Club and the BMW Owners Club.
This is to be arranged for a FRIDAY in March (dates TBA, when numbers of attendees sorted) at Daytona Motorsport in Milton Keynes. There will be promotion and coverage of the event via motoring publications (Practical Classics, Classic Car Weekly and Classic Cars), which will hopefully be positive for all Clubs. Booking would be via Mercedes Owners Club, who have said they will organise the event.
I gather we need a minimum of 10 from our region (or otherwise) to make the event work with them. We have 5 interested region members thus far, so if you are interested, please put your name down HERE, on this posting, or please contact me on r10@porscheclubgb.com

I have been in touch with Daytona Milton Keynes and they are able to book us a in for any Friday during March and have offered our Members a very good discount.
We could meet midday for a get together and photos, then after a 30 min get together we could begin with the race.
Members who do not wish to participate in the karting are very welcome to join us for get together and watch the race.
Please see below the options they have given us:
Exclusive Daytona Grand Prix Heats"¦
A fantastically fast paced format perfect for the individual racer, heats racing doesn't get more competitive than this. Each driver will take part in a practice session to get used to the karts and the track. After every driver has taken part in one practice session, the racing begins. Each driver will take part in 3 qualifying heats to try and put themselves in the best position on the grid for the semi-final. Once the semi-finals have been completed the top 20 drivers would make it through to the Grand Final, racing to the chequered flag and the top step of the podium for the trophy presentation.
Cost: £50 per person (usually £100)
30 Minute Endurance Race
The endurance event starts with a practice/qualifying session of either 5 mins. After practice, the karts will come back into the pits, and called out in order of where they have qualified for the race. There then follows the race of an 30 mins, each driver races the entire time. We can have more than 35 racing on the day, however this race can only be for up to 35 racers.
Cost: £50 per person (usually £70-£80)
Trophies are awarded for the top 3 and lap time print outs are provided to all participants.
Let me have your names ASAP, if interested, please...
