Colour coded wheels on a 993

Anybody got pictures of colour coded wheels on a 993, either Cup 2 wheels or Turbo Twists?

I am thinking about doing this on a Midnight Blue Coupe.

I know Maurice has them - any chance of a picture Maurice?

Also any recomendations on who to get to do it?

Ian.

it is the look to go for ! [:D]

this is the only one I have....

assume it would be quite simple for a good paint/bodyshop....

or try jasmine?

but I'm sure chops will have a few in his internet collection...

Not quite what I meant, rather inside of the wheel matches the body colour whilst keeping the silver rims.

But I do like the black wheel look and that yellow rim just sets it off :) It wouldn't work on dark blue though.

Ian.

Thanks Maurice.

Very nice. Is your car Zenith? Do they use the paint code from the car to match the colour?

I am getting a summer set of rims and want to try the colour coded look. Anybody done this on a Midnight Blue car?

Also anybody got a picture of Cup 2s like this (still debating whether to get 17" or 18" wheels)?

Ian.

Richard.

That's Versuvious is it not?

I have seen those colour coded wheels in the flesh, once on a car in Welwyn Garden City and once near Leicester. Wouldn't have been yours would it?

Seems a very rare colour.

A related question for you all

I have also been pondering getting some Big Reds brakes. Would this mean my new rims would have to be 18" or do they fit under the 17" Cup 2 wheels?

Ian.

If I was going for the Bid Reds I had decided on factory parts; 322mm drilled rotors front and rear, Turbo front calipers and RS rear calipers. Does that sound right?

I assume they are the Brembro based setup.

I have not looked at the RaceTech setup. Your opinion?

I know that soon I'll need new disks and pads all round so thinking about it. I know I don't need them as I have never had the slightest problem with the stopping power of the standard brakes.

Ian.

Its your choice Ian, but better left for boy racers IMO. If you want your wheels to look smaller, just buy smaller ones!

Hi Ian

>Wouldn't have been yours would it?
The car comes from Derby (I've only had it a few months) so possibly.

>Seems a very rare colour.
I have seen one or two about but not many. Apparently the Vesuvius C2S was a special edition car but it's not an official Porsche special edition. They were never advertised as a special edition but did come as a package with the colour coded wheels, silver mirrors and silver tail/spoiler amongst others (mines had the mirrors and tail painted).

I have now bought a nice second hand set of Cup 2s. I have ditched the tires and I am ready to have them colour coded.

So my question is what is the convention regarding where the colour coding will stop and where the silver starts?

Richard - I can't quite see from your photo but it looks like the colour coding stops at the end of the spokes (with the small surface between the spokes colour coded) and the two faces, one perpendicular to the spokes and the other flat to the tyre, are silver. Could you confirm this? Also what colour are the rears of the wheel? Silver I assume but could you also confirm.

Anybody else have an opinion?

Ian.

as to the earlier question 322mm big brakes do fit on 17" wheels

as that is the upgrade that I had on my last car which had 17's......

The colour coding finishes right in the corner (right angle) of the rim i.e. the vertical rim face is painted, the horizontal part is not. Will have to check the rears of the wheels as I'm not sure.

Maurice - your colour coded wheels look great, evoking the feel of the SC and 3.2 era colour coding, but where on earth did you get those spot lamps on the front? Woolies? (sorry).

Just been and collected my wheels from Pristine Alloy Wheels near Milton Keynes and what a fantastic job they have done [:D]

Here are some pics
