Actually I ran out of interior detailer, I usually use 303 Aerospace, its UV resistant and leaves a nice OEM finish.

This time I had hoovered and dusted everywhere and grabbed for the empty bottle :(
Nuts!!
So I used Meguiars Last Touch, diluted 50:50 with water.
Its really a quick detailer for all over the bodywork.

But it worked amazingly well on the interior/dash etc etc and didn't make anywhere shiny.
It just left it a perfect factory finish. [8D]

On the pedals and footrest I used Bilt Hamber Surfex HD (all purpose cleaner) on a meguiars triple detail brush (like a toothbrush) and then wiped with a damp cloth.
On the plastic/rubber parts of the pedals I used Nanolex Trim Rejuvenator.
Metalwork/inserts and sills I used Britemax Metal Finish.

Exactly.

The only other thing I had on the shelf was AutoGlym Vinyl & Rubber Care.
And I know that can leave a slightly glossy/ greasy finish.

Megs Last Touch just leaves it perfectly clean.

 
Did the wheels today on the gleeeeemin' 987.2 , white of course.
Forgot just how heavy 19" wheels are.
One side at a time, rear wheels cleaned with Wonder Wheels that made short work of the build-up inside the wheels and the face you see. All polished after removing dots of tar and grit stuck with tar inside, surprising quantity.

The fronts treated the same, but there is significant surface corrosion inside the wheel 'cup', the outer faces are good.
Thus, the two front wheel inner surfaces need a good sanding wheel on an angle grinder to linish the surface and re-paint.
I don't ant to have all 4 wheels stripped and repainted as everyone is closed!
My plan is to use a rattle can of simple wheel paint or smoothrite Hammerite silver.

So glad I bought one of those screw-in bars to hook the wheel over to guide the rim to the hub and hold it while the bolts are threaded into place.

To top it off, jet washed the inner arches and suspension.

That Snowball chap has a lot to answer to![;)]

Another Mighty White! 4 owner and spending quite a bit correcting the neglect from previous owner: Wheels re-sprayed and Calipers painted, Headlights and indicators smoked, Spyder side vents in Gloss Black, Zunsport grilles (white fins removed) lower section of wing mirrors in gloss black, Interior in Black Alcantara, New Head unit and amp, so many more jobs to do......

Havent been slacking myself.
painted the inside of one of the front wheels today, lots of surface corrosion, all gone, etch primed and silver spray.
Doing the other on tomorrow.

The Whites have it!

My jobs this weeks were to get the disc hubs painted in silver on the rears, as they look a bit tired, but the weather finally looks like its putting paid to those outside jobs.

On a positive note I cleaned, clayed, machine polished and coated the Liquid Yellow Clio 200 I have the other day - which is now looking as mint as the Porsche.

Will have to pick outdoor duties carefully in a dry window.

Both front wheels done, but really TBH all 4 wheels could do with a total refurb next spring. However, all the bubbling paint and corrosion all off the insides and painted up.

While down at the wheels reminded myself about the sills....

The surface protected by stone chip is engrained with grime. some tar (easy) but in the orange peel contours there persistently a grime.
I have tried tar remover, Wonder Wheels, Turps substitute, machine buffing paste and swearing, but nothing will shift it. I was going to try cellulose thinners but sounds risky.

Anyone know of a demon potion that will get the lower sill area clean to body colour?

That's got it going on - it looks epic! Nice job, I agree with Hillclimber those side vents look superb - like I said earlier in the thread I'm a sucker for red Boxsters. I was toying with spraying the side grill of mine black, but figured I'd only make a pigs ear of removing them so going to leave them alone!


 
Do the side vents just 'ping-out' or is there a real risk of the clips breaking?

Easy:
Ignore the facility at the bottom of the post. For free, get the Postimage app. on your PC
Take your picture on camera or phone.
Download the picture(s) to the PC via card or phone lead port. Do any editing you want, usually reducing the size. As a guide I take a lot of pics on my phone and they need editing down to 30% to get them to post.
Move the photos to your Pictures on your PC as usual.
Open the Postimage app and get to the pictures on the PC. Postimage is the simplest app I've found, absolutely nothing fancy about it.
Postimage gives you a choice of how to post on a forum, I use the 3rd from the bottom (called forums) of the list and simply right click 'copy'.

No, come to PCGB forum and open a post like you know how to.
Against the flashing curser (as if you are going to type some comments) right click and select 'Paste'
The picture will not appear except as the line off Postimage until you submit the thread.

And your picture will be on the post for all to see!
Practice makes it all easy.

 
Thanks sorted the photos now.

Re the vents, I can't take credit for them as they were done early on in the vehicles life. Got to say I think they improve the look but I've always liked guards red with black interior.
From what I've seen they should just pop out with trim removal tools but dont hold me responsible if any clips do brake!!

Not sure about the 987 as I can see that the 986 is slightly different. However, if it is similar then the answers are yes and yes [:)]

The trim and the grille are separate items but come off the car as one. There is a single screw, hidden from view, on the underside of the top of the vent (mine was missing on the offside). Once removed, the vent and grille can be removed by pulling it outwards (takes a little persuasion).

The three legs on the grille have tabs on the end (one of mine was broken off already). These tabs are an interference fit into metal clips on the body work.

If you do break a tab then there is some comfort knowing that replacement parts are available and inexpensive (under £15).

Relatively easy to remove side vents. Best to warm them first with a hairdryer to avoid risk of clips breaking. Guidance here and on other Youtube videos https://youtu.be/OrRFWbzePdw It's a Cayman but principle is similar.

Looking at that video, it appears that there are substantial differences in how the vents are fixed on the 986 and 987. As you mention it is always a good idea to get plastic parts warmed up to avoid snapping them (especially good advice if you are working outside in the winter).
