Congrats on the result: I read your post with interest. I don't know anything about the concourse scene, so forgive me for perhaps asking the obvious. How come that a car with modifications -such as cup 1 wheels etc on the 928S- is allowed into a concourse? Isn't it all about originality and the cosmetic condition of the original bits?
Thanks for clarifying in advance,
Bert
Ah yes the 993 Alex, I have added a small comment to the picture for those who couldnt make it.[

Hi Bert and thankyou, firstly let me say I too am new to the concours scene and know little of how its judged etc however I do know that the score sheet is made up of 2 main areas those being internal and external. Points it seems are awarded according to condition but taking into consideration mileage and regular useage as important factors. [8|]
An example of the system would be my car has covered two hundred and fortynine thousand miles in 29 years, the car next to me in the pictures has only done sixty thousand and is 10 years newer..... of course his is cleaner and undoubtably in better overall condition but this system of scoring means that you dont have to be a millionaire to enter this event and that a real enthusiast with a passion for classic cars can actually compete without first spending a fortune on restoration.[

Regarding the wheels...... well to be honest they are genuine Porsche items and do still have the originals, I also have a hand built stainless system and Nitrous Oxide installed into the car but my understanding of concours meant showroom standard or improved upon, these modifications despite some lacking originality do make it a much better car to drive and we in R15 do drive our cars in all conditions. The 928 S4 was a visitor to R15 and as such won the visitors class and it was Andys red 944 cab that beat mine on the day and rightly so as its a simply stunning example, I am however under no illusions that had the S4 been in my class it would have beaten my old 928S im sure.
If anyone has Tonys number could they pass it onto me as in my desperation to get the 928S in the garage before the heavens opened I forgot to grab my score sheet.[
