Considered views on price to sell 997

Strange you talk about falling 997 values - Evo mag this month said that their 997 had only lost £3k (ish, can't remember the exact number) on it's full purchase price (with options) vs the trade-in price in 9 months. Are they talking sh1te then?

It seems to me that the press often compare the price they paid with that of a similar car on a main dealer forecourt. It bares no relationship to the real world and misleads many owners. This affects all makes not just Porsche.

I would say that the prices I have been quoted, I would be down about £10k on Px at best, £6-7k private sale. So sh1t is one word for it[]

With all this in mind, is it worthwhile buying from a UK OPC or better to buy an import?

I'm due a 4S in March but don't think I'm going to take it as I'm not satisfied that it's a better car than my S. I sumbitted a letter of intent for a 997TT 18 months ago and, although, I'm looking forward to this car, I'm considering walking away from the OPC and buying the car elsewhere. There's no point in paying UK premium prices when issues such as the satnav/TMC debacle remain unresolved. If I had bought the car elsewhere I would have the same issue but I would have paid less.

Had 3 DB9's on the go, lost one of them today (and it had to be my prime choice)[] Px price ranges from £58-61k. 911 dealers and the one that Dario911 put me in touch with are mostly not forthcoming, saying thay are currently well stocked with 997's. This looks like a private sale, and see what's in the Aston market when transacted. I hate this process. So anyone out there fances to pick up a bargin 997, then you know who to call...
BTW if you are bored with this thread, I totaly understand, just tell me to shut up, no offence will be taken..

It's a good thread, I've been following it with interest.
I guess when people stop replying, that will be your cue to give it a rest. [:D]

Scary that the 997s are so well offered. It looks like Oliver's accountant may be right. I don't think, that this is only affecting the 997 though. It is probably true for the whole luxury sports car market >£60k. The economy is soft, the market is well supplied and there have been too many speculators chasing too few real buyers. My advice would be: don't pay over the odds for your DB9.

mbrands,
It is good advice, not rushing. When you are emotionally committed to doing something like this you can so easily rush into things, and after all this is a few quid we are talking about. My decision so far is to keep the other two DB9's on the go, however if they get sold, so be it. I have one dealer who believes he can organise a new one for September delivery (as I seem to be paying list, or at best £2-3k off list for a 1 year old 3-4k miler) then at this level it maybe the best solution for me.

I just couldn't believe that at one stage this week I was saying to myself"¦ "Right, I'm on holiday next week, so I must do a deal by the weekend" "¦"¦WHY!!!! []

So much calmer now"¦"¦[:)]

Will keep you in touch with my Aston madness,

BTW, can I still be involved in Porsche events? Will you still talk to me?
This obsession will not last, my next car will be a Porsche"¦honest..(in the blood)

Nick, have you tried Bramshaws - http://www.sjcbramshaw.net/
Paying for their membership allows you to sell your trade-in at retail price (and you get the full price, not just trade value) and pay list for a new car. I've been thinking about it for trading in the 997 for an AM V8

Sotoole,
Yes I have. I have been speaking to Rob, who is a nice man (they are all nice people when you are parting with money!)
I have reviewed their plan, however I think there must be a catch to it. What did you find out. He was trying to sell me a new DB9 for £7k over list

Collection day today[:D], anyone interested in some Pics? won't be offended if told to p*** off[&o]

Definitely - and impressions.
Have a mate who's had one for a year or so, Reckons it's much more sorted than his Vanquish.
Personally, love the detailing, what g'box did you go for?
Peter

I'd also be interested in your objective first impressions.

I'm sure that taking delivery of a brand new Aston on a beautiful late summer's day is quite a heady experience.

I've had many new Porsches and delivery day barely raises the heart beat - it is just a transaction. Fortunately, at least the ownership experience has always been worthwhile.

Might be worth starting a new post - 997 v DB9

Thanks for all your best wishes.
Please see new thread
Have a touch of jaw ache[:D][:D][:D][:D]
more pics will follow!
