.......you wouldnt get her within 6 zillion miles of a bunch of blokes drooling over cars[8D]

See y`all tomorrow at 11:00 ish

I don't know. It takes a lot to get me drooling these days, I've either seen it, got it or can't afford it - that is one advantage (or disadvantage) in knowing the man Cannell. That said, I can feel my saliva glands filling at the thought of seeing Fen's beast at long last.

I have actually picked up my car and driven it. Second time this year and third since mid-October. Why did I build it again?[FONT=verdana, geneva"] [FONT=verdana, geneva"]On the bright side it seems a bit quicker than I remember it and got a little squirmy on a dry roundabout on the (cold) track tyres. It still idles like a pig, especially when cold, so I will have a tweak with the laptop later and probably bring it with me tomorrow in case I feel the need to have a fiddle. I think by the time I park it up tomorrow I'll be ready to forget about it for another couple of months. If it wasn't for the way the oil drains out of the top end and if feels so cruel running it after a long lay-up I'd seriously consider de-registering it and towing it to track events, but I must try to drive it more often to keep the oil where it should be since I can.[FONT=verdana, geneva"]

For anyone that can't spot a bunch of drooling watercoolers, I'll be in a black S2 registered xxxx TTO

Well Paul what did you think of Fen's car, more like what you want?
Was great to see everyone again, hope you all had a safe journey home.

Hi Graeme,

Great to see you all too.

The winter seems to make everyone hibernate, here`s to a great summer. Apologies that I couldnt take my car especially when a few of you turned up to help ensure I keep my car [] , it was sorn`d and when I went to tax it the bl**dy MOT had run out yesterday so I took it in and it failed on a rear tyre inner (uneven) wear. Methinks the suspension is misaligned, ho hum. Twill be on the road asap.

As to Fen`s car............................absolutely superb, just what I was looking for. Fen, your a top man, thanks for letting me drive it, pity it was a bit greasy on the road.

Its given me real enthusiasm now that I can see the potential. Superb brakes, revised seating/steering wheel transforms the feel and control, taught suspension without being too twitchy and awesome power, it just pulls and pulls. I will have to dig deep and lie a lot to the missus [;)]

Look forward to seeing you all soon.

Regards

Paul

No problem Paul, if I'd realised you were not going to be able to make the pub I'd have got there a bit earlier rather than going the scenic (read greasy and sometime foggy) route.

A great days entertainment all round.

Thanks to Fen for turning up so that I got to see his car at last. - A bit dirty, but worth the wait.

Thanks to Rick for the rear light bulb, and assisting in replacing the front light bulb (Beaky was obviously getting his own back for all the nasty things I had been saying about him. I didn't mean them; he still makes me grin every time I drive him.)

Big, big thanks to Graeme for sorting out the venue for lunch - the best, and most reasonable, pub lunch I've had in a long time; no frills, just proper grub cooked nicely. And a proper flirty bar maid - you would, wouldn't you? [8D]

And what great company, every minute was a laugh. The thought of swapping all of that for spending an afternoon with a bunch of bearded, string backed driving glove wearing weirdies discussing the relative merits of an E Type pinion bearing really doesn't stand much comparison.

And just the right number of people - enough to be fun, and enough people not there so that we could talk about them. [:D]

Result!

Your ears were obviously burning. Your saving grace was that you had a 944 and are looking for another one, so have almost achieved the heady status of being an honourary 944 owner....I did say almost. [:D]

Your ears were obviously burning.

Always seem to be...[:'(]

Anyway, A 944?

We've had 2 - a beautiful Crystal Green Lux, bought from Hartech, and a Stone Grey Metallic 944S bought from some dodgy place near the Atomic Weapons Establishment in Aldermaston (maybe that explains the peeling paint I discovered a short time after buying it...[])

Still looking for another - but a bit hamstrung by not having any funds to cover the purchase[8|] (I'm told[;)])

All donations welcome [:D]

Nice to see you all again (and thanks to Graeme for my new collapsible bucket). I broke it in soon as I got home to wash off all that Cotswolds grime and tractor dirt []

I still think we should have had the second round of puddings.
