CTEK Car Charger

Thanks for the tip, just ordered the CTEK MXS 5.0 with cigarette lighter adapter, was thinking of plugging in as above, but as my car is in a car port, thinking it might be better to have the transformer inside the car? Also can you lock the car as normal with this operating and cable along the bottom of the door as you describe!!
Yes, I have the transformer in the car and you can lock the car normally.

There's a topic on CTEK chargers in the technical section of this forum. It's always worth checking there for technical information. [:)]

Oh yes, that one.....[:D] I think that is still pretty much up to date, Clive, looking at the models listed.

Have to say, impressed enough with the CTEK so far, just ran the "recond" cycle as it suggests this should be done annually. Simple enough to say the least, very much recommended, hopefully get longer life now out of my OEM battery.

I've received quite a lot of contradicting info on this one. OPC effectively told me that the OEM battery although does have access to battery levels, based on the age of the battery shouldn't need to be touched, certainly not being just over 12 months old. To be honest read much info around the fact they need some TLC, hence the CTEK. Having said that I'm intending to ask them to check the electrolyte level when my car is in for its major service next week. Not sure if it's part of the service schedule but would like it checked nevertheless, based on it struggling to start last week.

The CTEK charger today has finished its recon cycle so I assume, everything is ok, manual suggests it should be done once a year. Are you suggesting I shouldn't have ran the recon cycle before checking the electrolyte levels first?

As I said earlier I put nearly a litre in mine - and that was after it had been in for a service! At a year old yours is probably ok but mine is 7 years young and counting. From experience, irrespective of PC advice, I know I need to check the levels every so often. That and keeping on the Ctek seems to have kept it going longer than most Molls.

Good idea to get them to check as it would appear to not be on the list of service items.
