Dansk sports or sound exhaust?

Hi, sorry if there is already a thread on this but cant find anything. Does anyone have any experience with the dansk exhaust? I really can't decide on the standard sport or sound version? One Web site suggests the sound version isn't suitable for road use as over 100db? I really want to get an exhaust that enhances the cars sound but admit I don't want something that will either annoy the neighbours or annoy me with an awful drown on the motorway!

Hi.. Have fitted the dansk super sound and can definitely recommend it. There is no annoying drone at motorway speeds but sounds awesome when giving it the beans. I guess it's all subjective at the end of the day. Simon

Hi and welcome I have dansk mufflers with standard cats and after mart breached manifolds I also have the k@n induction air filter. Put the whole the together and you definitely hit the charts a sound for windows down.

so glad you've posted this , I was thinking about having this upgrade but now I'm having second thoughts . ??

Thanks for all the replies. Looking at other reviews for dansk exhausts and like with everything you get varying reviews. I'm not looking to fork out £1000's on an exhaust so might take the chance on this brand as on the whole they get good reviews... Just deciding on the standard sport or sound version!

Please let us know how you get on and what decision you make on which One .

I'm currently looking for my C4S

mark.

Lessons to be learnt from the 911UK post;

Make sure you get the exhausts fitted properly. You can clearly see in the picture that the flexible has been bashed with a hammer to get it to clear and fit. If this had ever gone back to Dansk for a warranty claim they would have rejected it because of the stress involved on the joint by the said bashing.

Make sure you know what the warranty period is and the correct procedure to follow in the event of a claim needed to be raised, also make sure the sellers do as well. The sellers in this case didnt really respond with the level most people would have expected (although it wouldnt have mattered due to my point above). ECP tried to help and completely cocked it up.

The only people to come out of this particular disaster without looking foolish are Top Gear Exhausts, everyone else made themselves look a little silly!

Dansk do sell lots of these boxes, its their best seller, I would guess they are into five thousand plus units over the 17 or so years they have been making them, so failure rate it pretty low, bit like the IMS thing!

Great post , puts things into perspective , I did see the damage to the flexi but I assumed that was done after fitment I.e foreign body impact / road debris etc etc .

love the sound of dansk systems.

Dansk boxes fitted on my 996 3.4 C2 - sound great - good value - no complaints. [:)]

I was going for a Dansk on my C4S, mainly as it was recommended by my local independent and it seems to be the cheapest replacement system. But the information above made me look for an alternative.
I am going for a Topgear (might also be called Powerflow?) stainless system with a 'lifetime' warrantee. If the pricing is correct and the supplier sticks to the estimate it's cheaper fitted that the parts alone for the Dansk.
I think the price is lower as they are exhaust specialists, not Porsche specialists.
Does anyone have any experience of the Topgear system? I am getting it fitted in the next two weeks.

I had never heard of top gear before. I have ended up going for the Dansk sports exhaust. Gets fitted on Tuesday by my local garage. Euro part had a sale. On so the back boxes with fitting kit £550.. Chickened out of the sound version after hearing it on another. Sounds brilliant the sound version just concerned it would get too much day to day..

No just the back boxes. Tail pipes are separate which they don't sell. If your old ones are in good condition just reuse them. Mine are damaged so forked out for Dansk tail pipes as well. Just oval single ones. Which I prefer to the quad ones.. Just personal preference

Since I last posted earlier this afternoon , I've been under my car at the back to inspect the rear boxes , they have been welded up all around the seems , now although they are not blowing , I know they have been bodged , so the new system will be on sooner than I thought .

Hi. Just as an update for those that are interested. I've had the Dansk sports exhaust fitted and have to say I'm please with it. Looks and sounds great. The sound isn't over bearing. When cruising its really quiet, quite similar to the stock exhaust, but put your foot down and it sounds great. Trying to get a photo of the new tail pipes but can't seem to upload off my mobile. I'd say for the money it's worth it.
