Decorative Side Lettering. What do you think

They're standard on the Spyder. I'm thinking now it may be because with there being no stone guard (with decal fitted cars) then its the paintwork they are having to restore and will remove the decal in the process and then replace it.

Hi All I've decided to have it done ( I make it sound like a tatoo!). I was thinking, i'll either ask them to remove the stone guards, add the decals and put new stone guards on, or add the decals over the stone guards. I was at the OPC and saw a used Cayman with the decal on top of the stone guard and looked fine, IMO. I asked them to do it exactly the same and the service representative explained that this is how they retrofit them. He said that if they place it under the stone guard the decal eventually cracks. (Not quoting him exactly but he said something like) the stone guard is more rigid and rigidly adhered than the decal and so the decal will move / stretch with any expansion or contraction but the stone guard wont, so eventually the part of the decal under the stone guard cracks away from the rest because it cant move with the rest. (Maybe the Spyder I saw getting the rear end of the decal replaced was due to this...) As we noted, cars from factory don't have stone guards if they have decals, so I guess this must be why (because placing the decal on top of the stone guard does have a slight aesthetic disadvantage). I've chosen silver, to match the 'aluminium look' painted front splitters. I should get the car back in a couple of days and will post a pic. Cecil

Well, I had taken the car in for 2 jobs. However, the decals didn't arrive. Itg appears their system gave them the impression it was on its way and then when the day came it told them they were on order from the factory in Germany. Not sure when they will arrive. Luckily the car was in for another job, otherwise it would have been a waste of time. Also, I was hoping for a loan vehicle whilst my car was with the OPC, but when I was told i'd have to pay for the insurance myself, I opted not to. Now, that would have been annoying if I had paid for insurance, especially to cover 1 job.
