That can't be right, can it? [:(]

Might need to re-think the 30th anniversary display at Silverstone in that case!

News flash! Display is now open to any 944 turbos, or to be honest any 944 if you whack a turbo badge on the back. [&:]

Hi Paul

Is this something that's actually happening, a display to celebrate 30 years of the 944T...I know some where produced in the last few months of 85 but iirc generally 86 is the year attributed to the cars launch..

My old 86 turbo which is a belter has now found a loving home in Newcastle, great to know that it is going to be loved !
To the poster who wants to turn his 86 into a race car................don't do that !

My decision has been made on that one and the build is underway! Whilst mine is a very nice example (bar a few minor battle scars) so I could have turned it in to a show queen, that just isn't me. I'd always sooner start with a good car as a base and fortunately I bought it before things got silly so it owes me a lot less than its on-paper value which is a nice place to be. However I value the time I've invested in it much higher than its potential value and I wouldn't want to start again with another one!!..

Therefore selling it to fund another one would be a false economy. Believe me I've been round in circles on this one in my head and I even viewed Mark's old 951 racer currently for sale at EMC (built from a genuine Silver Rose nonetheles), but the spec wasn't how I'd want it and the figures don't work out considering I'm doing most of the prep myself.

Lets not forget these cars were built to be driven and not to be somebody's pension fund!

That's a good one Skyline :)

Reading your views of the rising value of the lovely 944s makes me wonder what kind of value my own 91 Turbo Cabrio would be worth. It is a RHD I imported from London back 2009 and quite a few things have been changed and upgraded over time. It is Black on Black and has done approx. 72000 miles. and it is in decent shape but not fantastic - cosmetics has not been my first focus :)
I am however not sure that the Cabrio - as much as I have lusted after one seing it on the posters back in 1991 - will be the right car for me as I do like to attend track days - and that really isn't where it shines the most to be honest :-(
And unfortunately cars are quite expensive in Denmark due to 180% tax (and I am not clever enough to earn enough money :)) Thus I am seriously thinking about swapping to a Coupe in stead as I can't afford having both which of course in the ideal World would be the correct answer ;-)

I hope to see some views to this - and hope that I am not seen as a hijacker of this thread . other wise I of course will make a separate one.

Cheers

Niels

It is good news the more cars that are advertised at higher money. That is the way the value increases.

I have almost phoned Autostrassa a couple of times to get Beaky sorted so he may yet be at Silverstone.
