Depreciation

I think that it all depends upon how much you want to spend per mile on your motoring. If you want to really use your supercar then history dictates it must be Porsche. I may be proved wrong in time , but I can,t see many people living with a Gallardo or F430 as daily transport for very long. Either on the practical front or financially.
How much would a dealer bid you (if at all) on either after say 3 years and 45k miles. Depreciation, let alone the servicing costs just to keep them going, will be horrendous.
Most Ferriris seem to have about 5 owners in 2 years doing about 1000 miles each. Whats the point in having it? Must be just a trophy thing or are they not really that good? Those with any miles on at all appear to be dogs in need of major rebuilds, whereas a Porsche is just nicely run in.
If you don't want to use the car that much you could buy a used Ferrari ( or a trackday Porsche) and a new Porsche for the price of a new F430 (at current asking prices).
A used 996tt is a absolute bargain in comparison and you can enjoy the experience every day and still have change. I am not expecting that depreciation on a 997tt will be low but at least you will be able to use it.(and the car will have usable life left in it).
If I was you I would run the 996tt for longer to benefit from a flattening off depreciation. Time will then tell how practical these "new" italians turn out to be, (also how reliable the variable turbos are on the 997tt as that may affect residuals).

I must apologise for the poor grammar and spelling in the last thread, it must have been alcohol induced.[&:]

Some good comments on this thread. 997t is undoubtedly a great car - 6 years on from the 996tt, it'd be surprising if the changes were only superficial.

I drove a 993 turbo recently and was reminded what a great tool that is. Our 996tt's are still amazing cars, and will maintain value just as the 993t is now actually going up (25% in 2 years...).

If a 997 is just too tempting, then wait until a year after launch. I just looked on Mobile.de and there's 116 997tt's listed!

Starting at £85k.....

Back from holiday now and I've just booked myself in for a blast as I've found a main agent with a 997TT demonstrator which comes up for sale shortly too. A soft riding GT Tourer too Gary - this is music to my ears...

Happy shopping Marcus.....[:D]
On my Test drive they didn't want me to take it on the motorway, but I insisted as I knew where it may spend a bit of time...
