** Disaster !!! ***

I'll just mention that I had Autoglass out to repair my screen a while back, and they brought 2 944 screens with them in case it needed replacing. Both were clone, non-porsche green-tinted parts, but I don't see this as being a big problem - I suspect most 944s probably already have non-porsche screens (apparently mine does for one). The clones still have the aerial in them and I wouldn't be at all surprised if they are made by the same company that supplies the official Porsche part (can anyone confirm or deny this?). In the end they repaired the existing screen, but I've just noticed a big crack that is obscured by the rear view mirror which surely will need a new screen (and therefore the £50 excess paid)...

Being a bodywork person I know how easy it is to break a screen - and if it looks like it might go would advise customers to get on ebay as cannot take responsibility. If the screen was fine, and you, your wife, neighbours and workmates can confirn that - and the fact that you were not told of a fault that could cause breakage - it is the garages fault.

If the bill is horrendious (probably spelt that wrong), they should have insurance and must return your car with the same type of screen and new seals (can't use old ones). If they won't co-operate, as well as your solicitor mates I would name and shame.

Well, the new screen is in, new seals from what I can see also. The car is now all newly painted and new windscreen. Looks like brand new. Looks like a 05 car but with a 1989 registration. thats the only bad thing about the way the irish licence plates look.
Still have not got the invoice but was down checking out the car today.
I see that there is a wee box type thing and cable which was previously stuck to the wdinscreen. Whats this in aid of and can it be jsut stuck on with anything? It's hanging down now, so I might as well have it stuck back up.
So after about 6k spent on it, the car has a great engine and bodywork. What next !
