Discount at OPC's?

Hi guys,

just a quick question, are OPC's offering discounts on the 718 Cayman?

I'm going to be ordering mine this weekend, wondering if it's worth playing one centre off against another.

I'm not good when it comes to asking for discounts or freebies so a bit of prior knowledge will save me the embarrassment.

Thanks,
Richard.

it's the end of the 1/4 so YES normally no esp if you wait till OCT and all the figures are reset.

best time to buy is this weekend for deals ;-)

Say you will pay list for the car but want a few options free, I would aim for £5k free options. it sounds better than asking for a discount imo.

if the OPC has met targets then there will be no discounts so maybe worth phoning around to find one who needs to sell 3 or 4 more this 1/4 to meet figures, they will bend over backward to sell you are car if their targets are down.

Wow, really? I didn't expect that answer, I thought it would be a flat no as I'm buying a brand new model.

In in that case I'll try my luck, even £2-3k would get me a few more options I'm keen on.

Anyone had any success getting free options?

Just wondering if anyone has an update on this, has anyone had any luck getting discount from their OPC? I ordered my car in the end but got no discount.

Now I've just seen that the prices have risen for the 718 Cayman by over £3k (what were previously options are now included in the price, but some I don't want like satnav and Connect Plus). So if people have managed to get a discount I'd be willing to cancel my order and go somewhere else.

I haven't got long to decide though, my spec locks down at the beginning of April.

If it's any help I had been on a 5 new Porsches run from Nottingham P.C. when I wanted to change to my current Cayman GTS. After them working out their best deal I said I'd think about it. Shortly afterwards I visited The Sheffield P.C. and told them I was looking to change cars. They came up with a similar package, but gave me a £1500 dealer contribution to 'win the new business'. I did feel slightly disloyal, but find it very difficult to turn down £1500!

Shop around, and enjoy the car when you get it.

I got 1000 pound discount off my second hand 981 boxster from a opc about 8 months ago it was up for 36000 got it for 35000,it was approaching the end of the month and as long as I paid for it in full by the end of the month they would do the deal, they did say no at first and offered me a free paint treatment instead, they got back to me after speaking to their boss and said they could do the deal

That was about what I got off my 65 plate 981 Cayman S plus a full tank of fuel, full detailing (i.e. Not just valetting) and a one hour driving lesson for myself and my wife from a PEC instructor.

As said in an earlier post, my experience is to go for things which are high value to you but low value to the dealer as a means to nibble extra benefits to a deal. For BMW, I think dealers had to report new/used selling price so that BMW could "manage" what was being offered. Thus, dealers had more wiggle-room around accessories than around price with less room to negotiate servicing deals as that would have to involve the A/S people.

A bit of a thread revival Im just wondering if anyone has recent experiences they would be willing to share with approaching Porsche to get the right deal.

Currently looking at a 718 GTS

TIA

No hope they don't have a car they can even sell you. I asked for just a Boxster GTS and was told no chance of a car in 2021 and very little chance in 2022, but could I leave £5k with them just in case ! needless to say I bought something else.

October Last year I kept refusing the ceramic paint coating on my Cayman GTS and in the end they did it for free, not sure why. I suppose they like them looking their best.

Right now cars are in short supply and it’s a seller’s rather than a buyer’s market, so there’s little incentive for the dealers to offer a price discount unless the car’s in stock and they need to move it on.

You may be able to persuade the sales person to throw-in one of the cheaper (£200-£300) options like cruise control, folding mirrors, etc., or even some fancy decorative wheel valve sleeves (£45!) or the tyre gunk and compressor. Free GAP insurance is also something that may be on offer.

It’s always worth asking. [;)]

Priced up a ceramic coating of my choice so got that knocked off the price, 12 months road tax should be attainable as well as the free tank of petrol. PEC Silverstone day should be offered anyway.

You’ll be better off asking for accessories or clothing. Like it’s been said, the lack of supply had resulted in a sellers market. My salesman told me if I ordered a GTS now, it would be the spring of ‘22 if I was lucky And trying to get a T allocation is nigh on impossible (although Stockport have a very nice black T in their showroom).

This thread has been very useful … Hopefully will be doing a good deal today… if the deal happens i will let you know the Details. Fingers crossed :)

Mr Demon,

What did you go for in the end?

Really useful discussion on this page for someone new to the world of Porsche.

Hi Dan,

I think it'll end up being a GTS 4.0 with a manual box with a few extras.

Test driving the S and the GTS next weekend one with manual and one PDK.

Nice. Be forewarned though you may not get one until spring ‘22.

When I specced up an S and GTS there was only a couple of grand in it.

Good luck in your endeavour.

Dan.
