Do I or don't I?

I tried getting a quote for now rather than at end of summer when I get another years ncb (touchwood). My £950 quote became £1700. Tried Lancaster and they were a bit cheaper (cheers for advice) but still £1400 and wouldn't cover me for commuting (?! Its a long walk to work). 24, no accidents or points and 3 yrs ncb, garaged in the suburbs. I don't know what to do. I was getting quite set on an s2 in mettalic grey and was thinking of getting one in time to join my friends for le mans this year but it seems ridiculous to double the clios insurance for an extra 20bhp/tonne. Oh well cheers for all your advice and maybe I'll be back if I get better quotes in the autumn. Yours depressed[&:]

Hi Woots - sorry to hear about your dilema.
Have you tried Directline.com (after the damn website began to work, be patient with it)- I was very pleasently suprised, and even cancelled the previous insurance I had taken out a month earlier.

I might have been lucky being 30+ with full noclaims though.

Hi i got my turbo se at 24 (last year) and found the cheapest option was to continue my policy with privilegde (at around £1250) and to just change the car on the policy and pay the difference. I was getting silly(er) quotes of up to 3K[] .

I hit 25 in january and now have it covered with carole nash as a ltd mileage classic cover and it droped to £350. so it is worth getting old in some cases![&:]

That plate is nice[;)].

Well for some reason tesco are different to last week. No idea why, just tried the confused site and they came up best. Anyway if I manage to get to september okay then with 3 years ncb and 24 its £940 with tesco on a s2. 220 hbp turbo another £50, 250 bhp extra £80 on that, clio £720 so not too big a jump. I reckon the s2 just cause I reckon if you want to go fast in a straight line get a motorbike, the twisties are what counts (although they are quite cool on a bike too but thats for a different forum). The main reason is 250bhp turbos seem to be £8k.

Anyway its postponed a few months but if in the meantime anyone sees any nice s2s in grey for £5k then let me know. I might try and look at a 944 at the weekend just to be sure its what I want. Cheers all,

John

ps just noticed there is an east midlands meet next week. Are any 944 owners going and if so could I be cheeky and get a passenger ride? And would I be welcome as a non-member in a clio (I'll park a long way away[;)])?
