Some great advice thanks guys,I think that weighing things up I would probably be better either keeping my Lux or upgrading to a s2 model if they are an improved 944 to my Lux maybe?
Your next question could be "is there a God?", or "is it acceptable to tell a lie to spare someone's feelings?". It's like Radio 4 discussing philosophy here sometimes! [
I'd argue all the same points about being better off keeping the car you know, unless there's a very good reason for changing. My Lux was needing a few things doing, and on balance the silly price RPM gave me the S2 for made it a very good deal financially. I was in two minds at the time, and in hindsight I actually think I'd have been better off keeping the Lux and spending some money on the cosmetic things.
An S2 is a more refined 944. Whether it's any faster, well I drive between cameras around my area so it's not really noticeable. Occasionally, such as joining motorways, the extra few BHP are welcome, but it's really not an issue if you're the sort of driver who plans ahead. The big difference is the handling. I've said before that I think the S2 is over-tyred for normal suburban roads, the Lux always felt far more nimble despite being on older suspension and P6000s. All-round, it was more fun at the speeds you are realistically doing on UK roads. [8|]

any work that needs doing goes to my porsche specialist in Nettlebed.
Can you mail me his details? I've got someone looking for a specialist that way. I love Nettlebed, we go and see Fairport Convention there most years. [&:]

p.s. on that note am I the only one who thinks the lux brakes better than the 4pot cars? I've never got a 944 to brake as well as my lux even with M030 drilled and grooved disks/green stuff pads. Fantastically fade free from big speeds but the little lux definitely hauled up faster from the usual 70-30 into roundabouts.
