Do Porsche drivers wave or even acknowledge each other?

That's it then, I'm going to do a survey for a month and let you guys now at the next meeting. Beware 997 owners...............I'll be flashing you![;)]
Kx

When I had a 944 Turbo lots of waving etc,997=none. Spoke to a Cayman driver who was feeding his meter and he looked at me as if I was going to mug him! Definately an older car/ enthusiast thing.

Not been driving the CGT long enough to have a sufficient statistical population to be able to offer a significant reply - but having run Beetles for years I am fed up of stinking hippies waving at me and expecting me to a hold up my index and little finger. They expect you to do it even when you are standing still. Standing next to them. Talking. [>:]

So be careful that which you wish for comes true. [;)]

Signed
A very grumpy old man[8|]

Quite simple - Enthusiasts wave.

Those who are enthusiastic enough to log in to forums such as this wave.

Older cars tend to be owned - and driven [:D], by enthusiasts.

So old and new owners wave, but only the enthusiasts.

....P.S. I guess that the new breed are whats keeping Porsche in profit(most profitable car manufacturer?) and paying the bills.

Until times are hard or another manufacturer is the fashion of the day when they will realise they should have (also) supported the enthusiasts who will have all found small independents by then and won't return...

Older cars do it for sure - I think also there is a higher number of PCGB members in older cars hence read articles like this and think - I'll wave tomorrow if I see another Porsche!

Personally I always look for a wave but generally do not get one. The cab however, with its roof down - does get a lot of nods anyway so I'm not too lonely out there.

My suggestion - wave away!

I continually find myself waving at an oncoming Porsche only to realise that I'm in Mrs P's BMW or my Peugeot station wagon (or even worse, in the Mazda van). Dumb klutz?[&o]

I defence of the new Porsche owner, I do wave and feel a complete pillock when I get no reponse. I was caught out once by a '07 black 997 cab on the Oldmeldrum to Methlick road, he waved, I did wave but I think my reactions were a bit slow that day. If it was anyone on here, sorry, I'm not a snob. I've waved at all ages of Porsches and it makes no difference to the responce, ie zilch!

Do not worry - the pillockness comes from the car - [;)]
I'll get me coat then .......

i acknowledge any unusual car...just like that..comes from years of driving oddball motors and realising that other ownes appreciate a wee wave as much as i do.....iv had a wave from a guards red 911 and a guards red 944 since getting teh 928, most waves i ever had when when i was driving one of beetles, or, perhaps surprisingly, my old alfa gtv 2000 alfetta....cultured people up here dontcha know...when im driving my 928 i tend to give all porsche drivers a wave.....

She knows all my bad habits!

I like to toot my horn and wave frantically when Gordon goes off at the hairpin! :O)

Are you racing on Sat. Kim?

I think I'll take a run up.......can you hear the chicken noises in the background!! I know I should really have a go, will decide this weekend for definite. Gonna keep it a secret if I do go or all you lot will turn up and take the p**s out of me!!!![:)]

Very few people seem to know the 914 so its only VW nuts and porsche enthusiasts and true car nuts that wave/flash at me. Even had a few thumbs up whilst driving round town.

I am usually more than willing to acknowledge most Porches, VW, Classic cars, etc with a flash/wave.
