Do you know of a Lower Chassis number?

I've heard the same story that Martin posted from a Belgian RS collector in the past. He also told me that not all the chassisnumbers where build. His friend, who bought a new RS crashed it heavily in the early nineties. The car went back to Porsche and they rebuild it with a new shell and gave it a new chassisnumber out of the normal carpet RS range, but different from his original number. I do not know more on this, truth or just another Porsche story? I also contacted TJS on this matter, and he tells me this is not what he knows. Porsche build and sold cars before this 0062 number.... They where to expensive cars, not to build and sell or crash so many cars... So two different sources, two completely different stories,.. so who know the truth and can prove it? Regards Hgo

Was that a difference between the early and late clubbies? Minty is fairly late in age 99143. Des - if you get a contact for the factory, can you pass it on, would be keen to know a little more about Minty's history.

Minty is in the first original 150 Clubsports, it seems there are clubbies out there with Very Early Carpet Chassis numbers which adds more credance .... I have forwarded an email Hugh .... [:)]

When you check the shell number of this 0062 RS you will see that it is very, very early Porsche cannot have build 61 other RS'ses before this car in 1992 production year. I was told that they used the last four digits in the shell number to number the shells in production. this numbering was for all the 964 cars in that production year. this would mean that the 50 prototypes are build with MY91 shell numbers And that Porsche did build the first batch of RS'ses before all the other 964's of MY92 Hgo
