Do you polish your tail-pipes?

Jonelle (john lewis) stainless steel cleaner and if really ingrained Bar Keepers Friend (also jl), that time spent travelling back from the states may have allowed some salt to etch corrode that particular exhaust tip. Your guess as good as mine as to how it got there but a chance passing of the delivery lorry with a gritter when you TT was on the way to the dealership maybe... either way I'd ask for it to be changed. Gentlemen, the quality of chroming of the pipes on my handbuilt car is such that dulling, corroding or any other stain defect is an impossibility. After the usual wash, they remain as glinty as they were in 1997. Another tick for the 993. JohnC 993turbo

Having had polished rims on my 3.2 fuchs, this product is the best. http://www.speedymetalpolish.com/

And I thought this thread was about something altogether less savory. I have put the 996 Turbo Titanium tips on my exhaust - 6 months later, as good as new without any additional product over what the local car washing chaps use (there is a local hand car wash in a disused petrol station)

thanks doug!! hadnt thought of that-only snag is if i go get the aga chrome cleaner linda might think i am showing some interest in the blue beast in the kitchen and expect me to get involved in chores........[:D]

Interested to spot this thread! Just acquired a 997.2TT and was a little disappointed at the quality of the 'finish' on the tailpipes: there was a black ring in the lip of each that looked a bit patchy - in fact it gave the impression of a poorly-applied chrome finish. However, they're actually painted stainless and effectively the lip has been poorly masked, so I decided to polish off the scruffy black part which extended out of the pipe and onto the lip. Huge improvement. (Given that they're s/s you can be pretty hard on them to remove any tarnish).

I have a man to clean my pipes for me [8D] [;)]
