Do you wave at other Porsche drivers?

I've always been into old VW's, beetles, ghias and what have you and so waving at each other on the roads is second nature to me. It's a lovely feeling seeing a fellow enthusiast and passing on that love through a simple wave is heart warmingly satisfying.
Now with this '44 being my first Porsche i was unsure if the tradition was replicated, well i was unsure 'till last week when i had my first two sightings of other 944 drivers. Guess what? Yeah, they both acknowledged me. A wave and a flash. I was delighted!! So i imagine it's common within the 944 clique, but what about the rest of the Porker mob? I don't think i would wave at someone in a newer car, but an older one i'd have no problems with. An enthusiast who loves the mark, not the status symbol, if you know what i mean. But that's just me, do you wave at all? And if so, to which cars?
And if you don't, shame on you. You really should. It brings us all closer together in a World where so many people will hate you for having a nice motor.

Crikey, check out the Hippy vibes on Darren.

Oh, and for the chaps who just like technical topics, how do you, errr, change, errr, wiper blades? And are left and right hand wiper blades interchangable?

All sorts of people wave and in all sorts of different ways.
White van men have a particularly unusual wave, usually with the right hand and done with a half clenched fist in a sort of up and down manner.
911 owners are always going too fast and so you only see them waving in the mirror once they've gone by.
Boxster drivers have a strange sort of headstroking wave or are they doing their hair?
Every body waves at the 2.7[:)]

On my run from Burford to Cirencester I frequently pass either a yellow 997 or another silver Cayman coming the other way. I always wave at them and flash my lights as well. If I forget that I'm in the Peugeot or in Jane's BMW they immediately slow down and start looking for the Plod. [:D]

On way home from Cornbury House on Sunday, I waved at every car with a Porsche badge, 944, 964, 993, 996, 986, 987, 997 and even a Cayenne. And they all waved back.[:D]

I try to wave as much as possible, but sometimes i fail to because i didn't see the car in time, or their next to a junction and i don't want other road users to get the wrong signal and think im letting them pull out, or giving them way which might cause an accident.
Most of the time other Porsche owner's wave back, but just lately it seems to be getting less so. Mind you i have noticed quite a lot of lady drivers and they don't wave back as much as the feelers, my sister did point out to me that they might think that I'm a nutter

rather than a Porsche enthusiast. Mind you i am a bit of a nutter, nice one though

. so its safe to wave back.

Always get flashed and waved at by the classics, rarely by the modern models (never quite sure whether to wave at them or not?).

Just because we drive a modern model dosen't mean we don't appreciate a classic. If my circumstances were different I would love a classic.[:)]

I wave at classic cars without fail. I have stopped waving at Boxsters (too many dirty looks)"¦ other 911's (old and new) without deliberation "" not always to warm response from the newer ones (997) but hey"¦

If waved at, I have & will always wave back"¦ Brightens up my day & helps me behave behind the wheel - so please keep waving"¦ ;-)

Rich.P I will certainly wave if I see you then but I have been given alot of gone out looks for waving at new Porsche models.

edelschmetterling I consider the 993 to be at the very least 'a classic' if not 'THE' classic. So I wave at 993's no matter what they do in return.

not discrediting other models I just have a thing for 993's

Given up waving (particularly Boxster owners)

Only wave or flash 944`s as I normally get a result [:)]

I wave and flash at every Porsche I see. If you flash as well to draw their attention I generally get a 60% success rate [:)] The one's who don't wave back were obviously concentrating on the Gatso's too much to notice me

I always wave and flash to 944 drivers and always get a response newer models tend to give a limited response

Sorry to say, I have always been disappointed by the lack of response from other 944 drivers on the road (and I don't even try waving at drivers of other models.) With one notable exception, ever 944 driver I have seen in the last 6 months (since I got my S2) as just about ignored me.

Extreme example was a red Lux wich I followed 'round at least 4 junctions of the M25 about 6 weeks ago, with two lads in it, who utterly ignored me. I was tanking it along, saw them, and decided to slow and follow for the 'convoy' feel. Wish I hadn't bothered ...

(Best was a Ferrari F360 I had a damn good thrash with on the M1 just after I bought the S2. He had sooooo much more performance but was well up for a play, and gave me a friendly wave and rev of the engine when he eventually pulled off. That REALLY made my day!)

Thank you Ben. In future I will wave at all Porsche except for the Boxster. It is interesting to note that my experinces waving at Boxsters is not individual.

It is always nice driving with other Porsche cars & exchanging warm words at traffic lights etc... ;-)

I find you will generally only get a wave back from Porsche enthusiasts. This means probably 80% of older Porsche's (993>) but only a very small percentage of new cars. We're never going to get any feedback from these non-waving owners as the last place they would be is on a car forum!!

For that reason it's hopeless with newer cars as the chances of the driver being a Porsche nut rather than someone who will have an Aston/Ferrari/M5 etc as soon as the lease runs out, is virtually nil [8|]

I wave at everyone.

Chrono (Boxster owner who appreciates the marque, not because the car goes with my handbag - hang on, I have a handbag???)[&:]

I wave at everyone as well - funnily enough, I can't remember the last time I got a wave back from a 944 - I more normally get a strange look...

Rather sad as I have owned 2 944's previously [&o]

Waving details should be part of the welcome to the Porsche Owners Club pack that comes with the keys to a brand new car. OPC's to blame again for failing Porsche drivers...

I flash and wave at everything, including mazdas, toyotas, and others that I mistake for Porsches. I now have my hair cut at Toni and Guy`s.

Spread the love people, but not to Boxster owners.

We all like a bit of banter (and lord knows I've suffered enough in an enforced 17 month LIL absence [8|]) but I regard myself as a Porsche enthusiast, so I think we should be spreading the love to ALL cars of the marque.

<shallow mode on> Anyway have you noticed the number of hotties in Boxsters? (erm not including Mark of course - ahem) <shallow mode off>
