Does anyone know this car J29KNL

Nope, on cars with A/C the left hand button (front screen demist on your car, and mine) becomes a split button; top half recirc, bottom half front screen demist.

The right hand button (recirc in our cars) becomes the air con button.

See this picture to see what I mean: http://www.corn-bread.org/porsche/porsche%20pics/interior-dash3.jpg

LHD but the heater controls are the same.

I don't find the lack of air con to be that bad to be honest even with the large glass area. The ventilation is very efficient.

Unless of course you have some sort of aftermarket system fitted.

Like this...?!

It has got air con! I've seen it!! The button is a full size one on the right near to the wiper interval adjust button.

I wonder if its been fitted by Porsche at a later date!

To be fair, there is a blank where you describe as far as I know.

Plus, I was only assuming the setup is the same as on the Turbo cars. I've not seen an S2 with air con as far as I can remember,

Hmmm interesting [&:]

It doesn't look or sound like the factory aircon system that I have ever seen, more like the automatic heating that can only cool down to the outside ambient temperature. This extra mystery button sounds like it could be an aftermarket system but we do learn somethimg every day about these cars [:)]

Here's a pic of my Turbo dash that shows the LH button split in two like Wigeon explained and the aircon button on the right

It's got to be retrofit if it has it as described. I guess fitting the air-con button where there is a blank would be much cheaper than fitting new controls for the heater (still an expensive retrofit for someone though).

The S2 has exactly the same controls as the Turbo if it had air-con from new - why wouldn't it? They fit and the Turbo with air-con as standard predates the S2, so the part was already available to use by the time the S2 was around.
