Donington Car Museum - 18th April

New member
I intend to go along to this multi-region meeting on Sunday April 18th.
I think the plan is to meet in the museum car park at 10am.

There will also be a special display of motorbikes in the cafe area. which unfortunatly means that area will be closed for food/drinks, so I believe the plans are to either take a picnic, go on to a pub or another venue.

Ticket price will depend on how many turn up - if there are over 15 then the group rate is £5 per person, usual price is £7 per person.

Anyone else from R10 interested?

is anyone interested in having a guide for the day?

it would cost £3.50 Per person and i would have to book/Pay for it in advance?

Hmmmm......... I'd love to come, but unfortunately, my wife is due to give birth on Saturday 17th April. I think dusting down the Spyder (REPLICA) for a run up to Donington would be pretty bad form!
I WILL manage to get out and about this summer though, and maybe I'll even make it to a meeting?[:D]

Hi,

I'm a new member (so new I think it still says Non-Member), based in Milton Keynes. I quite fancy a day out at Donnington and it'll be a great excuse to give the car a run. Unfortunately the car is away at the moment having some work done but I'm hopeful it will be back before 18th April. So count me in - at least tentatively!!!

Regards

Dave

Hi Brian,

If my Carrera 3.2 has been sold by then I'll be in my CLK (sorry everyone....), BUT I am still a member, so count me in.

small up date,

meet at 10am in donington museum car park. entry is £5 PP (usual price £7pp)payable on entry. price for Guide for the day is now £3 pp payable to me.

For those interested in arriving in a convoy, how about we meet at the Northbound services M1 J15A at 09:00am and set off no later than 09:15? Should get us there for 10:00 traffic permitting.

Well, now that I have worked out where J15A is (Northampton), I might come along (if I can leave London early enough).

On the basis that I might be coming along the A43 from the west (M40/Towcester etc. - the M40 is easier for me to get to), which joins at J15A, can I still get to the services from this road ?

Does this all make sense ?

Of course, I can always do M40/M25/M1, but this sounds too boring !
And the A43 looks to be a fun road.

Yes you can. From the A43 turn left at the roundabout before the M1 bridge.
Watch out for the camera on the A43!
FYI, the Porsche Centre Silverstone is on this road.

If I can get away with spending two days out in the car this weekend will see you at the services guys.

Would be good to see the collection, keep meaning to get to East Mids airport early one day and drop in there first, not managed to do that in 3 years though so better take this opportunity!

Watch that camera John, it's after the Turweston turn off/just before Silverstone after you are past Brackley, plenty of people get done there even tho' the limit is 70 - it's a very fast road. Also watch out for the 'safety' vans on the overhead bridges, easy to spot them but just be warned!

Cheers, JG

Mark.. can we have your Spyder for 8th / 9th ? (Stoke Goldington thingy) On Sunday we met another member (top bloke) with another 550 ! - It'd be great to have 2 side by side.

John, you could check out the following web site before you depart (I can't guarantee the accuracy though and when I followed the link to today's mobile camera sites it gave me February's - typical Police efficiency [8|])...

http://www.bbc.co.uk/northamptonshire//travel/buses_policecams.shtml

There's also this link to the Northants Police website - they post camera locations a month ahead. Though for April 18 all it says is 'A6 Rushden to Kettering' and 'variable'; supposedly stops the bikers taping camera location printouts to their tanks.

Oh, what fun we have here in the Rose of the Shires.[:)]

Its not that I'm getting paranoid, but, I assume that this meet at M1 J145A 09:00 is still on ?

I should be there but it will be in my Passat (with turbo and sport wheels [:D]) and if I used the Porsche I would probably expire from CO poisening before I made it to the M1.

One of my oil return tubes seems to be leaking and dripping on to/in to the left heat exchanger. This results in fumes getting blown into the cabin, followed by mild panic, and headaches.

A pretty scary experience when it first happens I can tell you [:(].

Cheers

Andy
