Donington Historic May 3/4/5/May14

Tom and Kerry

I have booked for Sunday and will bring son John. I notice that the advanced car club bookings close at 5pm this Wednesday 23rd April. 30th April is deadline for advanced tickets with no onfield access.

Don

I have just recieved the following from the organisers of the Donington Historic regarding the closing dates for tickets "

"Owing to the amount of pleas I've received from club officials whose members have asked for an extended booking deadline as they've been away on the Easter break and haven't yet had time to sort out their trip to Donington, we have changed the cut-off for booking car club tickets from 5pm tomorrow (23rd) to 11pm on Friday (25th). "

Cheers

Kerry

Some possible spare tickets here, see:

I have just heard from Donington that we have 150 cars booked in for Sunday
This will be 30 more than the 120 maximum that we had last year

Looks like this event is slowly growing and word has got around that it is a really good event

We will, as in previous years, be by far the biggest car club there

Look forward to seeing you all over the weekend

Cheers Kerry

Greg, looks like a 9am meet at Ferrybridge services then down A1 to meet R4 at A46 roundabout (see R4/R7 threads) for 10am.
That way we'll miss the 50mph limit on M1.

Hi Everyone

We have had it confirmed that we will be in our usual spot, which is in the infield on the inside of redgates corner.

If anyone is available on Friday to give us a hand setting up we intend to be there in the afternoon.

It is really only 'man or woman power' to help us erect the gazebo

Thanks

Kerry

Just seen an update on R3 thread that we are required to be at Donington 1/2hr earlier
So that will be 0830 at Ferrybridge then down to A1/A46 roundabout for 0930
Hope that's ok?

John

Hi Everyone

We are off to set up at Donington and it has been confirmed that we are on the inside of Redgates corner as we have been in previousl years.

Just for your info, this is an exact extract from the last email I recieved from the organisers;

"PARKING ON THE STANDS
By now you will, hopefully, have thoroughly got the message from me that Sunday will be full. Packed in fact. For some stands (esp. Porsche Club GB!) it will require considerable logistical skills to get all your members on the space available. Please understand that our hands have been tied this year, and things really will be different for 2015."

This being the case please be patient with Tom and I and the team on Sunday when it comes to parking and expect a degree of inventiveness . As you can see this is out of our hands despite my emails requesting enough space. We have managed this minor problem in previous years so it is nothing new to us. Dunkirk spirit and all that!

The weather looks good for the weekend/bank holiday so we look forward to seeing you all on one day or another

Cheers

Kerry

Here, here... thanks - some great cars around, as usual[:D]

I had a great Sunday afternoon, big social gathering with racing to watch too, what's not to like.
I enjoyed introducing myself to all the 964 owners I could find.

Boy hasn't this event grown over the 4 years I've been coming. The first time we managed a gathering of 12 or so around a BBQ at the end of the day. Yesterday must have been 150 Porsches parked up. Well done with all your organising and negotiating and sacrificing the SW hill climb gig.

Many thanks for the hospitality and organisation Kerry & Tom. As usual, always a pleasure to see you both; normally it's me under stress.
A brilliant weekend, great turnout and lovely to catch up with so many people. Thanks on behalf of R4!

Hi, does anyone have any photos to post up of the cars on display in the Club area from this year?

Thanks

Yes - I have lots of pics but I've been away all week!

I will be sorting them out over the weekend and will post a link here.

Cheers
