Duxford IWM Event 5 Aug 12


I have just received notification of an Arena Display for the DUXFORD event. The organiser are asking for any interesting cars that fall into one of the three groups below. Note you will also be expected to speak/commentate whilst your car is being displayed.

ARENA DISPLAY CARS

A display and commentator for this year's Summer Car Show. If you would like to speak publically about your car and it fits into one of these 3 categories. We are planning to have a special arena entries as follows:

1. pre 1950s cars 2. 50s-60s cars 3. 70s-80s cars

Please let us know a week before the event. We look forward to hearing from you but regrettably cannot guarantee that all cars will enter the arena. The choice is at the IWM's discretion.

RULES AND REGULATIONS
 All drivers & vehicles are to be appropriately licensed & insured.
 Vehicles must obey the speed limit of 5mph on site.
 Vehicle movement is prohibited once on site and parked up by marshals.
 No dogs are allowed on site "" this is a CAA safety precaution for all live airfields.
 No BBQ's or gas appliances are allowed on the Museum site.
 Driving competitions are not permitted.
 We do not allow overnight parking or camping.
 Smoking: All Museum buildings are strictly No Smoking.
 Signage: The Imperial War Museum Duxford will supply signage as required. All provided signage is the property of the Museum. All signage removed from site will be charged to the Car Club.
 Car owners who are aware of leaks on their cars must bring pans to avoid contamination of the grass areas
 Photography: Visitors who wish to film or take photographs for commercial use, i.e. where the intention is to publish, present or otherwise attempt to exploit the commercial value of the results, must get a permission from the Museum prior to the event. A charge may apply. Please contact the Public Events Officer for further details.
 Trading: The club must inform the Museum at least two weeks prior to the event if they wish to invite traders or sell any car related items themselves. A charge may be applicable. Traders will need to send their Public Liability Insurance and risk assessments(s) to the Public Events Officer prior to the event. Traders /clubs are not allowed to sell refreshments.
 Public Liability Insurance: A gazebo, banner trailer unit and/or a flagpole are allowed as long as the club has Public Liability Insurance and they are erected safely. Failure to do so will result in being asked to take down the structure. A copy of the Public Liability Insurance will need to be send to IWM Duxford three weeks prior to the event.
 Waste: Please take all your waste home or deposit it in one of the collection points.
 The Imperial War Museum reserves the right to request an exhibitor and his/her guest(s) to leave the museum site at their discretion.

Information for Participants


ENTRANCE
Gate: Entry will be through Gate 1, which is the nearest one to Royston.
How to get there: The Museum is just off J10 on the M11. Please follow the yellow "˜Car Club' signs on the A505, which will lead to Gate 1.
Opening times: Gate 1 opens at 9.30am. The Museum will be open at 10am. Please make sure you are in your designated area by 12pm. The Museum will close at 6pm , and we ask all participant to stay until at least 3pm.

PAYMENT
Payment will be collected by a member of the IWM staff in kiosks at the Gate 1 entrance.
Admission rate is £9.95 per person

DISPLAY AREA
The event will be held between Hangar 4 (The Battle of Britain Hangar) and the Land Warfare Hall. Car parking marshals will help you find your allocated area. In addition, a map indicating your available will be available from the kiosks on the day.

Glad to hear yo will be joining us at Duxford - look forward to seeing you both.

 
After you come off the M11 and past the main entrance to Duxford, don't be surprised by the distance to the display entrance - it's a surprisingly long way, but will be signposted. I began to think we'd missed the signposts after getting on for a mile - just shows what a big place Duxford is!
