Dyno results

Back to basics - is the exhaust black or grey? is it throwing out loads of black crap? When my car had problems anything within a meter of the tailpipe got black. Mine was massively rich at tickover - MOT failure rich. Rich

I didn't see any smoke at all when Charlie drove it on and off the rollers and I haven't seen any smoke when on a cold idle when closing the garage door. Edit- sorry the exhaust itself? I'll dash out and have a look inside.

ORIGINAL: awattam That would have been great but I've got plans on sat []  I guess I'd be looking at more £ if I go on my own?
We'll probably be organising another one later in the year for folks further south who couldn't get up to Chester

When we do have another dyno down south it would be nice to allow other marques as I have 3 boys with modded cars and it would be a fun family day for us all... mind you not sure what SWMBO would make of it...[;)][;)] have to rig the dyno though so they don't beat me these boys are serious about their fast fords... now I wonder where they get that from...lol Pete

I may also be up for a dyno day in the south of south (but I wouldn't mind souther either) some day in November.

We have always had a few other marques (remember when Fen got the highest figure of all in his Audi [:-] ). Your SWMBO has always been very understanding, as I recall she bought your first ever wastegate as a present - ah wedded bliss :ROFLMAO:

Neither my S2 or my 968 have blown smoke but both have needed new Fuel Pressure Regulators, some of the effects can be counter intuitive. On my 968 for example the spark plugs looked like the engine was running too lean, but my fuel economy was about 20% down on when I bought the car and it developed a very lumpy idle (occasionally drop revs and splutter), and a slight lack of kick sometimes when flooring it. The idle is still a little lumpy for my tastes but it never splutters now. On both cars the FPR was original up to about 150K miles, I think of it as a basic service item now, along with the fuel pump and alternator regulator pack which all seem to need replacing at this sort of mileage.

Thanks for that Neil, my S2 has been doing the same for quite some time, seems like I now know what to look at.
