E10 conversion kit

Just watched an old episode of Wheeler Dealers where they added an E10 conversion kit to the carbs in a Triumph Dolomite. And the kit only cost £280.
I have a 1989 Porsche 911 3.2 Carrera Targa Sport and filling up with E5 petrol is over £100.00.
Any experience on the E10 conversion kits?

Had my 3.2 engine for nearly 30 years, ECU is standard but for a Bob Watson chip.

Tried E10 several times and it really lost a lot of smoothness etc and 10% worse mpg.
Runs on Shell E5 for many years and all is great.

The ecu and the injection system i think is 'fixed' for 95+ octane in the ROW tune, cars on carbs can be tuned to suit.

I would be far more bothered about E10 on the fuel system pipes...

According to Porsche in a Press Release E5 should be used, and not to use E10.
The 911 Carrera 3.2 Drivers Manual advises the use of 98 RON (old UK 4 star petrol). 95 RON is possible for the Catalytic 3.2s that have a lower compression and power output.
E10 is close to 3 star in RON, modern cars are designed to run on this, and have knock sensors to protect engines from the effects of knocking, the 3.2 does not have that protection. I wouldn't wan to use E10, except in an emergency, and then top up with E5 as soon as possible. We have been in this situation in rural and remote parts of Europe. I have not put too much demand on the engine when forced to use E10 to get to a station with E5. Steve
