I' d be interested in the 190SL.

Have you the contact details?

My old man deals in these, so is normally looking for good RHD cars

Ian here' s some info on the RHD 190SL:

" 1957 Mercedes Benz 190SL, Chassis # CO19604255B with 51934 Miles showing.
Interestingly the California license plate was mounted right over the old
UK " cherished" plate UYF 51, this may lead to a previous owner coming to
light."

Steve

that' s really interesting.

we used to own a 190SL with the plate UYF56

The chassis no. isn' t correct (it' s the body no.) but I will contact the chap directly.

Thanks

The owner of these cars knows the original English registration of the 912 as well: KAB 96D

I wonder whether DVLA would re-issue the number if it was still available?

This is from the owner

" Hi,
I did have the English man look at the car. We do have a Diamler Benz, Lotus Elan plus 2, and a 190 Mercedes(1957). If we get good price we don' t mind selling them all 4. Mercedes needs work but all the original parts are there with hard top. They are all RHD. When your friend comes he can look at all of them.
James "

Nick good luck with it. RHD does look interesting. How did it get there.

If there is someone else looking to fill their container that would be great. I am in no hurry to get the car as I have the 70E going to the paint shop when the Carrera comes out. I was hoping to get a car ready for Le Mans, but I don' t see that happening []

Oh and the 67S arrives tomorrow [:)]

Ok I will be calling him soon so let you know.

I know what it is like to set a date to finish the car. I had to get my 12 done for the 356 int all mot' ed and reg now as you know now the carbs are leaking fuel !!!!!!!

i have had them rebuilt by a top carb builder as well.

Mark

hope fully I will there in the 912 at the New F 356 int meet if not may be the 54 ..

nothing to report as my guy phoned the owner prior to turning up, but there was no answer on the phone as he was out in the back yard. We are re-scheduling for a later date as the owner is now going abroad for a few days.

Nick

Weird!

Only 5 days later - using the same ad - price has gone up $750 with 20 hours to go.

I' ll get it when it comes up next week!

I have at last had that 912 inspected over the week end, Stephen Haq will probably say " I told you so" but the pictures of the body and interior show them to be in fair condition, but when you look underneath it' s a different story.

Nick "" I'm too much of a Porsche newbie to say: "I told you so" [;)]

When I was actively looking at US cars, I found a direct correlation between those cars with new-but-nasty paint jobs and those with huge rusty holes underneath. This guy was just wasting everyone's time by not accurately describing the car.
