Edinburgh monthly meet - suggestions?

ORIGINAL: Jane Smart

Hi everyone, I would love to come along to a meeting again soon, as it's been ages.

[:)]

Yeah, far too long since we saw you there. If you want a lift one evening, just shout!

I'd rather stick to 1st Thurs of the month. It's easy to remember!
Another venue could be the Norton House Hotel........??

Like the Bridge Inn idea too!

For whats it worth,

The official club take on this is that there should only be one club meeting per month, that there should be no divide between east and west.

This was discussed a few years ago and the westies wanted to keep their Tuesday natter and the easties didnt want to travel west.

Before any venue can be changed the club need to notifed of the change of venue as its recorded in the quarterly porsche file for non member/new members etc and also on the club website.

I like Dakota, its relaxed, you can always get seats, the parking is excellent and its directly of the motorway.

If the venue has to be changed, It would be appropriate to post thoughts/options on the emailing list and in the club magazine and not just have a few people on the forum change the venue without consulting the 500 members in Region 1. (perhaps many dont attend because it is the Dakota and its expensive for drinks and food)

John as you seem to be leading on this perhaps put some options together that I can circulate to all the members and obtain a consensus of everyones opinion before there is any change to Dakota meetings.

I am certainly in favour of changing the date as two meets west/east in one week is a bit much.

Norton House is quite nice, but again prices are expensive. Tipec use the car museum in Boness which is also quite good,

Probably worth putting together half a dozen options then see whats the most popular.

regards
Scott RO Region 1

ps, I will be along to the April 4th Dakota meeting,

Thanks for that Scott, I knew there would be a club angle to this, and not for a moment was I suggesting that a few posts on a forum were all that would be required to initiate a change. It was merely a heads up that attendance has been falling away, and should we do something about it?

In my view (whatever the club might think) one meeting to cover the whole of southern Scotland is simply not compatible with Scottish geography. For me at least, driving from NE Fife on a winters evening to Glasgow and back, just for a pint and a natter is a non starter.

John,

It's been a while since I was there too, can I get a lift?

Bill

Only if you have also recently bought new high-heeld pink tweed boots!

I have posted out on the club email distribution list for suggestions on dates and venues, can discuss at next meeting at Dakota if a change is worthwhile.

Regards
Scott.

Is the Dakota meeting still on this Thursday coming? I think I'll come along if it is. What time do you meet up?

Archie.
