EIGHT BECOMES ONE!

Had a long chat on the subject at the PC and the party line is:
December launch was not clever, usually September giving people time to test drive in decent weather, there's not been much of that recently.
Most customers want to spec their own car and the dealer's 2 or 3 stock cars are not flying out the door
Porsche have restricted numbers to the UK, less than 997.1 days. Cars ordered today are looking at June delivery.
I think the economic climate is still making people wary of too much overt spending. Personally, can't justify a new car, but that's not the point is it[:D]]

To try and hold the prices/values up maybe?
Hard times to launch a new car or model if not in China or Russia...

Definitely, Gary, they planned to restrict UK supplies from day one for that very reason. Obviously learned from their mistakes in the past with oversupply.

Are you sure they are just not allocating more cars to other countries like China? Ie. making the same if not more but redistributing them depending on where they can make the most profit?

I suppose it doesn't really matter why, the consequence is higher demand and thus higher residuals in the UK...

Absolutely, Alex. Far East and China biggest markets now. Mostly Cayennes and Panameras of course.

So, according to last night's broadcast, Top Gear don't like the steering on the 991 either then! [:(]

Regards,

Clive.

Yeh, that's not going to help sales at all!

Although saying that, the people looking to buy a 991 may not be the type of people who watch Topgear anyway...

I wonder if it'll encourage them to launch the additional models any earlier???

Why Don't they launch the '991 'Run Out' model now which would have loads of extras at no extra cost plus an 'S' if you buy the Turbo version.

They would sell thousands ![;)]

I've got a 991S due 1st March so following thread with interest.

Didn't spec PDDC since had it on Cayenne GTS and thought a bit artificial. Said to my dealer this morning that regretted not speccing PDDC after reading this thread. He was surprised. Said very few people order PDDC and won't get money back on resale. Makes car too easy and computor gamey to drive.

Also said the steering feel issue is overdone and reality is minimal difference. New steering easier to track car on road which is progress unless hairy chested die hard traditionist. New system saves 10-12 bhp versus old so performance benefit.

I'm surprised too as it would be the first tick in the box for me having driven it - if I were buying. I also go with this chaps opinion..........[;)]
