End of an era dawns.... another turbo for sale

Keeping it was always my plan but reality has dawned and no point in doing so - best that some other enthusiast gets the chance to enjoy her - cars like this are becoming more rare as time goes on so I shouldn't hog all the action!

Pauly, I know what you mean about the ST being a woman's car, but all small hot hatches are (and most big hot hatches too for that matter). I wont be trying to replace the 944, that would be impossible, but a small hot hatch would probably provide me with some restbite from boring people carrier driving. Basically i've got to change my mindset that cars are not for fun, they are practical tools for getting people from A to B! (I have to repeat this to myself at least 100 time before I go to be every night!).

To be honest I used to sail quite alot and i've not done so for a good few years so I will probably get back into that and it is a good positive hobby to involve my kids in as they grow up. And I can definately say that it is possible for sailing to provide equivalent thrills to my 944. I used to crew for a mate at university who had a Laser 4000. Wow, that thing was amazing, i'd like to hook up one of those G-Tech things to one to measure the accellaration, because when that thing picked up a gust it flew.

I know what you mean Scott, I windsurf and the rush you get when "just" the wind picks you up and hurls you forward, 35 mph or more with very standard kit with only your skill stopping a very painful wipeout!

Never sailed a modern high performance dinghy - sailed lots of things over the past 40+ years - so if you want an occasional crew :)

Would love to buy a turbo especially a nice one like yours, but the '83 will have to do for now.

Good luck with the sale and whatever you do end up doing.

Mike

I will admit that I havent read every post thoroughly; but I fail to see why you need to sell if youre buying a sensible and capacious people carrier? If that new vehicle meets all of your needs then thats the vehicle to use when the need arises, surely?

basically because i didn't buy for the daily commute to work, I bought it as a hobby car, but now I have no time to indulge myself in. So it's sensible people carrier as the main car and my Porsche sale will allow me to get a nice well specc'd one. The focus is the second car that will need replacement in a couple of years.

Scotty, I agree I need to take more photo's!

I agree. Unless you need to sell the car to fund another, or if you simply can not store it, then consider keeping it.

Absolutely - but it does need to be inside. If you leave it on your drive it will deteriorate before your eyes. Nobody likes washing a car just to look at it on the drive and outside car covers seldom do what they say on the box IMO.

I agree, but I probably wont end up with anything sporty or there would be no point in selling the turbo. Anyway, i'm in no rush to sell, i'm quite happy to keep her until early next year. It will give me a bit more time to enjoy her and give her a bit of spit and polish in all the nooks and crannies where only Concourse geeks venture. I could even return the engine to stock as i've kept all the components (though i'd need to sort out the wastegate) if it might help sell better next year.
