Engine 'tin'

Ian
Today, in one hand I had the tinware panel from my old 1974 2.7 engine, in the other the corresponding 3.0 panel (borrowed - not mine). Apart from the 3.0's ducting holes they are totally identical. Best to buy new as 30 year old can be frail but I do know where one is if you are totally stuck.

Don't forget if you replace this panel you may need the 2.7 nearside tinware which takes the ducting from the fan unit down to the heat exchanger. I don't know what your exhaust arrangement is.

Even more worying is when you are twice the age of your car and it's in better condition than you are!

Thanks Mike,
It sounds like the 2.7 tin is the one I need. When you say apart from the 3.0 ducting holes they are the same do you mean the air pump ducting holes or the heating ones? I have SSIs fitted with the standard heating arrangement that comes with that system, so hopefully there should be no problems. I'll check the price of the item with AFN and see just how much they can charge for a simple piece of metal.
Don't worry there are several pieces of my car that are in better condition than me despite efforts to slow the ageing process!!!

Thanks again
More to follow I suspect
Regards
Ian

Apart from small bolt holes, there are no holes at all on the 2.7 tinware. On my 3.0 panel I have one large hole plus one short metal pipe, both on the near side.
