Engine Wine

ORIGINAL: Diver944

The club has a couple that are lent out for the cost of postage. It's a great member benefit [:)]

That is a fantastic benefit of being a member [8D] The membership would pay for itself several times over with one belt change. I have to admit that I am surprised!

My engine developes a whine when I had the belts replaced. I was told to ignor it and it would go away... It did.
It seems that the belt teeth have sharp edges and the edge goes off then when they bed inb. It worked for me.

ok but mine isnt a gentle whine it is painful whine. All so I thought I would have a look why the idle was rough before tackling the Balance belts and have noticed two thing the connector on the bottom of the throttle valve was disconnected so I have reconnected it and secondly there is a thin pipe that goes from the front fuel pressure valve to a T piece in the inlet manifold which keeps falling out and then it goes towards the throttle valve but it isn't plugged into anything (hope this sounds makes sense). My question is where does the end of the pipe plug in and what is its purpose?

Just like to say a big thanks to all the help that you are all giving [:)] And yes I am tempted to become a proper member

Ok i have found some information and it seems it has to plug into the pressure dump valve which then goes off to the electric tank breather valve, how can you tell the engine model so i know I am looking at the correct drawing?

Thanks

well the drawing i found is for a 944S 16V but my layout routes different, quick question at the front of the engine bay on the fule rail is it the pressure damper and at the back of the engine bay on the fuel rail is it the pressure regulator

Hi All,

Well i have taken the timing belt covers off and i can twist the balance belt about 45 degrees which appears to be to tight also it is touching the top of the Balanace Belt idler. If i hold the Balancw Belt away from the Balance Belt idler it spins freely but does sound like a wheel on a set of skates shoes. Would you say that the idler is ok and the belt just needs adjusting.

Thanks

Gavin[8|]

I have just had the seb from bubble and kick come to my house and reset the balance belt tension, and the wine is now gone, thanks to all those that posted [:)]
