Very very nice! Nice choice of parts and lovely looking car. I hate to get all Rennlist on this nice UK forum but with my limited experience on the topic those 1/4 mile figures look a bit low? 550hp in a 1300kg car set up with nice soft rear suspension as you seem to have I'd have thought you'd be seeing 130mph+ by the end even with the 944's difficult nature to get off the mark? What was up?

Regards,

Ben

680N.m... Nice!
What sort of boost pressure are your running, and what sort of camshaft?
Sorry for the typical 951 geek questions [:)]

Is this your engine?

I think this car had been faster on quarter mile. Problem was that this time is not runned by car owner.

Car is running on 1,2bar boost. We used Web-Cam 274.

Yes, this is the engine.

Hi Ringo, impressive work and impressive figures [:)]

Tell us more about the bonnet and the vents upon it. Is it carbon fibre and what benefit have you seen from the vents? Is there any ducting inside the engine bay leading to them?

Ben, those 1/4 mile times and speeds seem very close to the times for a standard 996TT so I would not have said they were exactly slow

Very nice. Loved that engine bay from the moment I first saw it. VERY tidy set up, you don't see many like that.

Paul point taken but even the 420hp 996TT in the real world will do high 11secs, I think a friend of mine did 11.8 as his best at Santapod (which is horribly slippery compared with other drag strips) and look at the power to weight:

996TT = 270bhp/ton
550hp 944T = 355bhp/ton

That's a BIG difference. The same difference as a standard 250hp 944 vs a 996TT in fact.

That is why power to weight is just as crude and unreliable indicator of a cars performance as headline BHP figures. A 944 will always struggle to take something like a 996 turbo off the line even with hugely superior power and torque. A 911 is simply a better car for traction with the 4x4 system and by virtue of the fact the engine is in the 'wrong place'. All 911's are capable of out-dragging cars with superior on paper power to weight and bhp figures. 944's talents lie is different areas.

Sadly this is not carbon hood, sticker. No ducts, just cutted. At these holes vacuum (i m not sure that i m using right word, i hope you can understand) should be biggest on hood, so hot air is pulled out and engine bay stays cooler.

Received your email today, thank you.

Interesting build. What head did you use on the 8v? Any head mods. Stock extractors?
Over 550bhp on 1.2 bar is good. What dyno?

As far as acceleration times go, the best way is something like 100-200kmh. This then takes out things like launch control, 4wd and snapping our driveline components. :)

Would also be interested to see a dyno chart. What compression ratio is the engine?

I can't help wondering how the response of a GT35 would be on a 3.0 8V with a CR of 8:1 such as mine.

8V was ported and intake valves were bigger (head is for sale). CR 9,0:1. I will upload dyno chart.

New seats arrived this weekend.

9.1:0 8v ??? I find that pretty interesting. Running what fuel at what psi?

Those replica seats are tempting at those prices but not ratified for track so I've left them alone.

Andres, do you sell those seats? Please e-mail me for more information, we might be interested of a pair for my son's project.

Rebuilt cylinder head. Valves moved inside to get lower CR. Custom made spring plates to get higher spring rate.
