Exhaust back box or rear silencer

ORIGINAL: Indi9xx

These long life ones sound great.

I have always used Dansk for standard cars and Fabspeed for high performance options. Never had a problem with a Dansk, however I do buy direct from Dansk and every one I have head of there being a problem with, seems to have come from an online "shop" with Porsche in the name, or from Euro "something" parts ) so not sure if they have done a deal with Dansk for a cheap version.. Never had a dansk fail that we have fitted, and I have some customers who have had them on their cars for 10 years, one of which has done 100k miles!!

But, to be honest, if these long life ones are as good as they sound, and go all the way forward, they sound like good value

The comments you have made there about Dansk are complete rubbish, please be more professional on an open forum

yeah it would seem a bit strange could have been a bad batch but an unlikely situation, for most people without direct access to Dansk themselves maybe not a fair comparison.

My comments were directed at the "supposed source" of Dansk parts not the quality of their parts. Jon knows what I mean.

OK, the original post has been edited to remove references.

However, what is your suggestion of why Dansk are getting a bad name in a number of posts for cracking seams, corrosion and poor bends next to the rear anti roll bar which causes buzzing/rattling.. Yet, we have bought loads of them over the last 10 to 15 years and never had a problem?

I would stand by the fact that every Dansk we have fitted has been of superb quality, we have never seen one corrode or crack, or knock against other parts of the car. But a search here and in the tipec forum will see people having issues.

Often when someone asks for a recommendation here and in tipec for an exhaust option, someone will recommend Dansk, and others who have had issues recommend against them, which is bad for Dansk and not my experience at all.. Which is the point I want to make.

Sometimes, we all know that "seconds" make it onto the market place, maybe this is the problem... But as long as there are members, buying product which is not of usual and expected quality, a mystery remains and those members need to be reasured that those issues are not the norm.

Do you sell Dansk? Do you find they are poor or good quality?

My problem with your post was the fact that you imply you buy Dansk direct from Denmark and their factory, you imply that the Dansk parts available elsewhere in the UK, which all come from ECP, who have sole import rights from Dansk, are inferior or second quality. All of these facts are untrue, I know this for a fact, I have spoken to both the CEO of ECP and the CEO of Dansk as they are both personal friends of mine.

You post comes across as "buy Dansk but buy it from me as the other people selling the Dansk parts are selling you seconds or lesser quality parts"

We do sell the full range of Dansk parts, on the whole, they are a great product, very rarely there is a problem but if there is ECP & Dansk replace without quibble.

Can we please keep it civil?

Well, I think you need to talk to both your personal friends as I think they have a problem.

I do not buy Dansk through ECP your wrong there, except for one item about a year ago, which has now cracked on the seams twice and been replaced twice by them.. So yes, they will stand by the product, but even my own experience has shown that their seems to be a problem there which goes hand in hand with the experiences of several PCGB and TIPEC members, which can be seen my performing a search on both forums. The problem is, how many members would be happy to keep changing it over, even though ECP are honourable stand by the product?

In several of these posts you will also see me defending the quality of Dansk, and you will see people obviously unhappy with the product, even though that is not my experience of their product.

And no, you are also wrong about the "buy it from me" thing, I don't sell exhausts via mail order, as you can see from my online shop, I just sell bits which people have problems identifying (such as the correct fuel pressure reg for their car) or parts we make ourselves.

If you look through any thread about Dansk or which exhaust to buy, you will see I also do not mention "Buy a Dansk from me" or even "Buy a fabspeed from me", instead in the case of fabspeed, you will see me saying "Buy direct from fabspeed"

My interest isnt in selling products here, it is generally in guiding owners towards the right products from the right places... Go ahead and look for me touting my wears and putting my web address of my online shop on my posts or the subject matter of 99% of my posts will not mention my products... they will be helping people on knowing how to test components on their cars to diagnose faults, or just generally join in as another enthusiast.

A good example of this type911 is where on the engine mount thread I gave advice about the different types of engine mounts and which ones to go for.. Not once did I mention the link where the original poster linked to "PorscheShop", or say "Buy from me", but your response was...

"There are 3 options, Genuine Porsche at £135 each, OEM Meyle at £55 each or aftermarket at £35 each. All have been superceeded to the latest version. Bolts are worth changing anyhow, £1.50 each (the prices in that link are a disgrace)"

In particular your post slated another supplier, PorscheShop.. My post on this thread just identified there seems to be a problem with some of the Dansk Exhausts which seem to have been supplied by a particular chain of suppliers, which lets people know if their one was not up to expectations, that it isnt the norm.

Quite right Paul!

Not quite--I didn't find anything unprofessional in the posts--just informative-everybody is also free to express their opinion which is what it was--if you can't stand the heat ,then get out of the kitchen or find a polycarbonate greenhouse[:)]

This just the stuff,I go on the forum to hear(read).
