Exhaust mods advise please

Had the centre muffler bypass by Sherkworks fitted today by Paragon as I wanted a porsche specialist to fit and a very tentative 150 mile round trip in conditions I don't usually drive the Porsche in
I may be making a mistake with the mod but the exhaust noise has always been the only serious let down in an otherwise excellent motor.
I ve done a fair amount of research and not aware of any problems reported with those fitting this mod - sharkwerks are a quality outfit and tested these rigorously on their 09 gen 2 even evolving the design in their test car - also look at the work they did on new crank etc on the sharkwerks RS 4.1 on J Leno Garage for the quality of engineering.
On the way home the car sounded good - as quiet as ever with PSE off but definitely better sound with it turned on. - not too loud but say quality and tone of of 8 compared to say 6 with the standard PSE --more miles and less ice on the road to judge properly but did not notice any vibration or resonance at any speed including motorway or at idle.
Yes if engine lets go I am sure this will be a problem for warranty but at any sign of ECU or abnormal running I have the option to return to stock ( studs and nuts replaced with s/s fittings today) with 1 1/2 H in workshop
OPC byfleet have confirmed that any non exhaust issues will still be honoured by the warranty as I phoned them specifically to discuss this
Oh and happy new year!
Would be interested in any other feedback when you have driven the car a bit more - most people seem pleased but the upgrade is quite subtle it appears. Can you share the rough total cost if you don't mind?
Thanks and happy NY!

Doesn't keep me awake at night.
PDK's generally aren't serviced at PC's only replaced. My own PC has undertaken 5 replacements so far at an average cost of £10K a go.
Sweet dreams! []
Regards,
Clive.
What is not clear to me is whether you don't worry about either the engine or gearbox letting go because you think they are very strong and reliable or because £10k+ is pocket change?[] Happy New Year to all too.ORIGINAL: Magic919
How very odd.

You are looking at around £850 to £950 all in with fitting depending who fits

Seem to have opened a bit of a debate on this one so here is an email from the man himself Mr Alex Ross the owner of Sharkworks in USA , that I received from California yesterday - I enclose it for completeness make of it what you will:

Hi Antony and happy new year! I'm from London so I'll shoot straight First off so glad you like the exhaust and sound... On the Gts it's a favorite around here with its pse
I honestly would not worry about those comments because they are very likely misinformed and also unsure of what the change you have done is vs some of the other bad stuff that can rightly get a bad name... That sort of stuff usually includes headers, cats etc that when changed cause the back pressure to change and also cause check engine lights etc... With our set up remember we are only going to what essentially is a 997.1 set up with two mufflers instead of three. There's only a very slight improvement in flow and then of course sound. No emissions equipment is changed and we have sold over 500 of these units word wide to many porsche dealerships Not a single issue ever... Your ecu does NOT need to be adjusted etc... You're all good
There is nothing that they can void your warranty for like they can on headers, cats, intake and or software
Best Ross
I'm not setting out to spoil the enjoyment of your new modification, but as Alex Ross is the manufacturer and vendor of this mod, in the words of the late Mandy Rice Davies "He would say that, wouldn't he?"
If you are fitting non OEM equipment, you are breaching the terms of your extended warranty with the potential to void any future claim.
My advice would be to read the conditions of your contract carefully and discuss the matter with the Service Manager of your PC and, if possible, get a letter from him confirming you're in the clear.
Otherwise, just enjoy the new sound and hope either nothing goes wrong or that you can refit the original equipment before making a future warranty claim.
I think that's about as much advice as I can provide on the subject.
Regards,
Clive.

Yes interestingly known as the Mandy rice Davies clause in the Oxford Book of quotations. - I believe it was actually " he would wouldn't he" to be a pedant
I believe what you note is absolutely correct in that I've varied /breached a clause or condition in a contract ie EW that could be used to invalidate or frustrate the contract - so I will have a talk with my OPC
The lack of quality sound was really getting to me though and a colleague at work just chopped his 911 in for a Maserati as he was so fed up with the sound -don't want to go down that route[:'(] you know what I mean being an ex 430 scud owner!
All the best
Tony
However, any pangs for a 'better sound', such as one might get with an Aston for example, are immediately negated by any of the following:
1. Putting my foot down hard
2. The whole thing not going pop every time I do (remembering that when I attended a track day at Silverstone, the only mishap of the day was a Vantage engine letting go)
3. Noting that it costs me about £500 a year to maintain, not £5,000
4. etc.
My warranty was invalidated because of the exhaust mods and re-map . As a goodwill gesture i got a free brand new bench tested engine with up to date software on original exhaust but had to pay labour costs.
Porsche Cars GB second to none ,updated the software in my new engine to be better than when it was modified with original exhaust and factory equipment.
