Exhaust specialists

Hi all

As previously posted here, my exhaust is driving me nutso with its uncouth noisiness, and I want to do something about it very soon. Looking on Yell this morning, the only proper custom exhaust specialist I can see near Reading is Powerflow in Slough. Does anyone have experience of using them or any other suggestions? I'm going to nip out shortly to our local indie for a chat but want to weigh up my options.

Cheers, Craig

We've got one in Leeds, they tend to deal with the boy racer end of the market as far as i'm aware, if you're looking for four Peco Big Bore 4's grafting onto the back of your car then they're sure to be able to help you.

I recently sorted my exhausting out and steered well clear of them, your decision though.

Has the resonater been removed? This makes a massive difference and an otherwise acceptable rear box will be far too loud without it.

Not the slough one - but TopGear in Hayes yes...

Mate had a full system on his Audi S3. Workmanship was VERY good... He asked for a quiet one, with just a sporty note and thats what he got... Worth a tel call...

Dont be put off by the look of the place - its on the pump lane industrial estate which isnt great - but these guys are ok from my one experience with them.

Hope that helps

More constructively: you need to find an exhaust fabricator who uses a mandrel bender (not a firm who welds together ready made generic sections). This will separate the men from the boys. I can recommend somewhere in Sheffield, but nowhere closer to you unfortunately.

Powerflow? No. No, and again: no.

Thats interesting Simon - have you had bad experience with Powerflow stuff..

I hear what you are saying re bending rather than welding however....

I am quite interested myself in the Dansk exhausts - do they come recommended as a performance exhaust?

cheers

Porsche specialists RPM in Herts do a SS exhaust custom made for the 944 Turbo/S2 (I think). Give Darren a call, I think they fit it for free too.

Not as a performance exhaust, but yes as a replacement for the standard rear box.

Both of my cars have one for the past 5 years or so. They are good quality, fit straight on and are very slightly louder than the old ones (or this just could be that the old ones had most of the wadding long since blown away). Still shiny after 5 years and a bargain at circa £150- £170

Can you get the middle also from Dansk.. I have a pre-cat F-plate 2.7 Lux.

I've never seen them make anything but the rear box. Front pipes are usually from Porsche or a custom exhaust place

Stainless centres are available for the 2.5l certainly: not nearly as common as the rears though.

In August 911 & Porsche World out today Steve Bennett buys middle and rear Dansk pieces from Porscheshop for £310, not sure if that's the fitted price, and has a photo of the pieces.

i] Price
ii] Terrible firm

Can't agree more! :) For a while I thought all 944 spares are that expensive...and that I'll be eating Tesco Value pot noodles for the rest of my Porsche ownership!
