Hi All,

Needing to change the rear box, although it does sound mean [8D]

German and Sweedish only want £50 plus vat, has anyone ever tried one? Seems a lot cheaper than Bert at £125 plus, but I don't want everyone to point at it and laugh [:)]

GSF one will last about 2 years.... you may get a little more out of it.

Dansk one from Bert or an imported DanskSport one will last a lifetime.

I had a Euro Car Parts one on my old 2.5 LUX for about 6 years before I wrote the old girloff !
I think the GS one is the same, they are pretty heavy guage steel

ECP used to do a cheap mild steel one and more expensive genuine one, my lux had a bosal (cheap one) on it when I bought it, that fell apart, replaced with the genuine item, top quality as you would expect and back then around £120.

My Cab has a Dansk rear section, its ok does the job well but does not sound as good as the original.
Could it be that the old exhausts packing has lost it's ability to reduce the sound?

The Dansk was on the car when I bought it & I am comparing it with cars running OPC systems

There are various options of dansk, they have different part numbers and performance.

for a start.

I believe the 220 & 250 are the same.

Thanks John,

Euro car parts are the best price so far but also found one on e-bay a bit cheaper so might wait and see what happens.

Hi Paul,

I don't know which model you've got, but the Dansk system seems to last forever and be pretty reasonable. Take a look at the suppliers in the faqs section for a few quotes.

I'd not bother with second-hand unless I knew that it was very recent. By the time you've bought it and paid to have it fitted at least a new one should be a one-off fix.

Hi Matt
My '83 2.5 has a bracket a little in front of the torsion bar, also I have a new (2004! never used - long story) from Euro Car Parts- £75
I'm in Leicester 5 min from J21 of the M1 (M69 Junction)
My phone no is at the bottom if you're interested.

Dansk seem to be of a variable quality for now it seems. The older units seem to last years whereas the newer units can last months.

In your shoes I would be tempted to buy the new old stock exhaust on eBay (as pricey as it is) or get a custom back box made up via an exhaust specialist.

Try http://www.jmgporsche.co.uk/ for a Dansk exhaust. He seems to be able to supply the 'good quality' versions and unlike some Ebay sellers will stand by his product.

My own S2 has had a Dansk rear box and decat for over 10 years and 80,000 miles with no problem

944S, 2.7l and S2 use a similar exhaust. Porsche split the 2.7l parts half way through production (as with some other items like the FPR) between the S type and the S2 type, but aftermarket manufacturers all offer a single part which suits all three models.

The exhaust on my 2.7 is different from my S2, the manifold/ exhaust joints have the bolt holes as a mirror image of each other - much to my annoyance!
