Extended warranty - Would you recommend?

ORIGINAL: NicD

Report it again now then, do not allow the manuacturers warranty to expire

Should've said I've been on the extended warranty for the past six months. I'm not going to accept an "it's not covered" excuse. There is obviously a problem with the units (basic unit, cdr-22 I think), as the replacement is now doing the same as the original.

Crikey... Mine is doing the same - keeps setting itself to bass 0, treble 0, balance -9 fader -9

Thought I could sneak it in under warranty.

Bugger....
The strange thing is that sometimes it only resets half of the settings. Until I noticed this I thought it must be a problem with the connection to the system, as I've already had the unit replaced, but now, like the original, it sometimes resets base&treble only to 0, and then balance and loud at other times. More often though it does all of them. I think it's a problem that develops over time with the unit. With my original one I noticed it very rarely at first but after 6 months it started becoming more frequent until it was happening 2 or 3 times a week, which was annoying coz this was every time I used the car. The new unit seemed to be perfect and then it went once after about 3 months and then a few times after 6 months and now at 9 months it's once or twice a week, and oddly enough it has now even started loosing them while I'm driving, it used to be that it would only happen on start-up. I'll see what the dealer says, as I have to bring it in for yet another minor problem soon anyway []

It is a must after first time getting extended warranty had to replace pcm - I was unhappy about having to pay for warranty as never had a car without but well worth the money even if not used.

It nver goes wrong on me when driving - just on startup. I've found that if I notice it in time and turn the radio off, its fine when I turn it back on again.

For a while I thought it was my car kit doing it (nokia) but its done it with no phone going in the kit.

I thought the PCM/Nav/radio/CD player, etc are not covered under the extended warranty?
