Going to pick ours up at Leipzig in a couple of weeks. Any one else done this, we can't wait!
 
The appointed travel agents were useless and overcharged us relative to others doing the same thing recently.

Anyway; we collected our Macan from Leipzig two years ago, had a great time, especially doing the moose test on track, a far better overall experience than our recent trip to Stuttgart.

Ive been thinking of factory collection for my next car. At this time of year under German law isn’t it mandatory to have winter tyres fitted ? If so this would be a pain as I wouldn’t normally fit them in Britain living down on the south coast. I guess the answer is to order that car so that it is built and collected in the summer.
 
Exactly. We collected our Macan in October and specified all season tyres so no problem.

Collected the Boxster in September before the law kicked in for winter.

Sounds like a great idea. I will soon be ordering a GTS but have a timing issue. My build date is 'early March', I want it registered on or before 31st March, (pre VED rise) for which it has to be at the dealer. It seems the shipping time from Factory to dealer can be as little as a week or up to 4 weeks, so it seems that Leipzig collection could reduce delivery time to 10 days/2weeks?
Also, I take it that payment would be made to the UK dealer before collection?
Any comments would be helpful.
 
Yes, payment in full to dealer before you go, registration date is the date you take it to the dealer when you get back to the UK, plan your dates carefully if ved date is important to you!

Thank you David as I thought, the only aspect I cannot control is of course the build date. Seems like a plan though. Will be at Silverstone PEC and the dealer (Silverstone) tomorrow, so will chat through with them.
 
They need 10 days between finishing the build and pick up from the factory to allow for paperwork etc...

yes you you have to spec all season tyres for collection in the winter but this just gives me an excuse to get a different set of wheels and tyres for the summer :)

counting down the days.....
