964RS Register could join the official club visit next year any takers? obviously take in a track or two......................

explain more - I went on the PCGB factory visit same time as Laurence (Sept 2002). What would be different this time ?
He went in his RS , with navigator Lou , I went solo in 996 comfort with satnav....are you talking taking only RS' s ?

Yes Oldtimer that's the idea so far we are two........will ask if we can use the Weissach test track.........

well if the Weissach track can be arranged that would be a good incentive. its a bit narrow but can be long , how many cars would they let out at a time? assume they have tow trucks and medical car.....

Des I honestly can't see Porsche allowing it. Nice Idea though(think I would sooner be taken round by a certain Mr Kussmaul anyway). Ah oldtimer I thought it was you under the Old timer name theres a John wanting to get out. Think I have got that right (it seems so long ago now).

Need a few more replies no rush say about 10 takers would be ideal then I will speak with Stephen.....Melv what about taking Cuppie down to his Birthplace.......no trailer drive it!!!

hi Des, if you can work the Weissach track in on a sensible basis that makes it a modest request for limited numbers ( only RSs)+ limited tracktime , then a single 20 min session might work, assuming your target ten cars could all circulate at same time...starting at say 10 second intervals . From what I recall of the blurred scenery going past, its a non overtaking track and about a 2 minute lap so some grading/grouping of drivers might be sensible.
If the participants made their way to Weissach from the hotel ( Adler?) then joined with the bussed-in tour party and did the normal hot laps with a Weissach driver+factory car first ( track familiarisation) then stayed on to drive their own cars.....???
I can imagine all sorts of reasons why the likely answer from Porsche would be 'no' as Laurence has expressed, but you got to try !
I would not normally drive my 964RS to deepest Europe as it is on a limited mileage 'classic car' road+track insurance policy , the return trip starting from Cheshire would take out most of my annual mileage allotment, but would do it if could go on Weissach track ! Having seen 6 or so 964RSs turn out for the RMA trackday at Bedford Autodrome last Saturday , I would think you could get your target number to join the PCGB factory visit given the right package [:)]

Will speak to Stephen..........and let you all know....also have a few GT3s interested............

you want to show off your mid engine mini GT3 again then Mark[:D][:D]

[;)]

Well, that and the fact I love the Factory Visits - and if they DO allow a drive around Weissach (which would be amazing if they do) then I don't want to miss the opportunity. [8D]

Factory visit open to all club members...just trying to get the 964RS fraternity on a long weekend beano down the autobahn.....would love a few GT3s' trying to keep up!!! Anymore RS interest.........STOP PRESS....interest from a certain GT3 Register Secretary....

des

i could be interested - depends on dates & costs as always.

having driven back from bedford to south coast twice in last 3 weeks in the RS however, the thought of driving across Europe in it is slightly daunting...considering driving down the M1 is like sitting in a giant tumble drier sat on a skateboard rolling down a washboard with a factory shopfloor making loads of noise behind you (grinding, whistling, roaring, growling), your right foot connected to a pedal that makes everything louder and faster very quickly. :ROFLMAO:

never before has the 968 felt like a limo..'soft' suspension, soundproofing, even a stereo...

Welcome to real Porsche driving Matt.......just driven to the Ring and back via Spa, other than a broken cup pipe (LOUD) a very enjoyable drive....factory would be a doddle.........and maybe a visit to the Eifel Mountains............

Matt, I went to Monaco this year in my RS and the road surface is so much better in Europe especially France you can cruise 110mph and still listen to the radio or hold a conversation! The 964RS is fantastic on the French Autoroutes as generally they are so much smother. Mine has the longrange tank 92 Litres and I was getting 500 plus miles to the tank!

Matt, you're a woos!! [;)]

Jeff -you found us at last then! [:D]

You're right about the roads, some of that French blacktop is superb. But then they have 25% vehicles per km than we do in the UK ripping them up.

I heard on the grapevine that joy rides round Weissach are now verboten thanks to some accidents....is this true [&:]
