FACTORY VISIT 2004

Passenger rides were being given back in September - I went with the PCA Germany Region.

They do restrict it however to VERY few visits per year. I think the 2 a year that we get in PCGB is the max normally allowed. The PCA Germany region only got a go last year because they were 10 years old, and the main club in the USA dropped one of thier visits so that the Germany region could use it as part of their 10 year celebrations.

Edited for spelling...

Welcome Jeff at long last you found us.............so are you up for it? I think we will be looking at September 2004 once I get some good feedback will speak with Stephen the Club factory visit organiser. If you not been it's a must did it two years ago but flew (plane that is) a good convoy of like minded enthusiasts would be great fun, Melv I'm sure you can hitch a lift if you think the journey in Cuppie a bit too much!

Jeff - Radio?? in an RS?? [] don't let Des know - the extra weight will surely upset the handling purity - especially with the speakers as well [;)]

Mines a CS on Cup suspension - so its slightly louder and more uncomfortable...however if Mel drives Cuppie (no trailers or hitching lifts) I'll drive mine :ROFLMAO:

16th September 2004............official date (see Dec PP) have spoken with Stephen and need names and numbers by about end of Feb, would hope to get a decent 964RS Convoy together......the Cayenne Factory also on the agenda......we could even double up sharing the travel costs......would hope to get at least five or six cars to make this pilgrimage....so thats........ Jeff, Des, Matt, Laurence, Oldtimer, Gary(GT3)........so far..........please let me know

Self drive around Weissach unlikely. Most likely will be a seat next to a test driver.

The 964RS contingent will be going as part of the September PCGB Tour organised by Stephen Robinson.

Watch this space and PP for further details.

Just been looking at the ring opening times and it's open all of the sept week of fac vis but only in the evenings. Could plan a whole day there visiting museum, manthey, cochem? etc and hav a track lap or two (no gung ho efforts please) in the evening finishing off for stay in dorint with evening meal and lots of weisbeer!!!! could also go on to Hockenheim next day following down to Stuttgart. I think there is a museum there even if we can't get track for parade laps, will do a little more searching on this one. Other plan would be to leave out the official fac vis and do our own! could still visit Stuttgart and fac museum just not the fact. Idea itinarary would be drive to strasbourg visit Schlumpf. Onto stuttgart visit Factory Museum and Sinsheim Muesum then onto Hockenheim from hockenheim up to the ring timing for a weekend slot two days and then home. No firm idea on number of days but could be amended and messed with to include things for the ladies etc. Idea of trip to be "mega RS trip" Just a tought[:)]

sounds great to me Laurence.

could be a spare seat in mine as i doubt the wife wants to spend a few days playing with cars - the RSCS does not even have a passenger side sunvisor - let alone a vanity mirror in it :ROFLMAO:

Take the Cup Car? Unlikely -just spent 180 road miles in it over the weekend and my back is suffering......

Nurburgring has a museum. Not a big one, but has one.
The Dorint Hotel has a reputation for forgetting bookings - heard nothing but bad on this place (apart from the view of the pit straight...!)
Hockenheim has an even smaller museum, and is heavily skewed towards bikes.
Factory should be able to accomodate a tour in September (if you mean we are not tagging on to the Club Tour????). Contact is Frau Schlegl on +49 711911 5384. English speaking tours are 10AM (prompt!) and last 1.5 to 2 hours.

Hope that helps?!

Hi Mark. I have stayed at Dorint three times now and found it very good. In fact they were most helpful and accomodating. Not cheap though but not mega expensive either. Can only speak as I have found. Museum is not huge would take maybe hour or two to look round. But not the only place to spend time. Cochem is about 30 mins away and is quite beautiful. The whole thing is just an idea to throw around anyway.

Laurence,

Sorry, didn't mean to sound so negative!
I haven't stayed at the Dorint, so I'm only going by what people on the 'Ringers list have said.

Not knocking the ideas in any way[:)]
