believe it or not, a guy at work's next door neighbour has one of these gorgeous machines but in red.. the same guy also has another ferrari (similar age, poss slightly older) but I cant remember the model number; im pretty sure its a something GTO.. anyway its got a long bonnet/shot tail, k/o wire wheels, semi-circular vents in the top of the nose, front engine, V12 (perspex scoop over 6 carb trumpets [:D] ), red over black.. amazing beast, uses it for historic racing..

I did the lottery last night and I`m very confident
Probably have to pick up the cheque on Wednesdayish
Cleared by the following Thusday
So by Christmas I`ll have

A 356 , an outlaw, black with white sripes
A Jensen Interceptor SP
Series 1 4.2 E Type Jag FHC British racing green
A73 RS obviously
And the best 928 money could buy

That`s going to be the start of it anyway

Cheers, Mike [:)]

I have an oil industry client who collects interesting Ferraris. I've never been in a suitable situation to ask exactly what he has in the garage, but for his everyday car he switches between his F40 and his F50. He drives them both tens of thousands of miles a year in all weathers and regularly parks them in the NCP or leaves them at Heathrow long stay. From this I get the impression he has some very special toys at home.

a friend of mine met a guy who had declared himself bankrupt, sold everything and hid it all to stop his wife (or ex wife) taking anything during the divorce, and was asked to cool it for a few years so he looked bankrupt (this guy earned tens of thousands of pounds a month) by his lawyer, as although business was good he couldn't appear to be earning lots of money..

he was then given a dressing down for going out and buying a brand new 550 maranello as his only car (because he was only allowed one).. his response was "if i cant drive a ferrari i dont want to drive" and so now he gets black cabs everywhere!.. (for the time being)

there are some crazy (and rich) people out there [:D]

Having given this some thought:-
DSC03007.jpg

I'd keep the Cup Car -that's no fantasy.

DSC02877.jpg

Put a Jaguar XJ220 in a glass box just to look at;

DSC00568.jpg

A Land Rover for some gentle off roading and chugging around green lanes.

DSC02382.jpg

A 1920's blower Bentley for the noise and the challenge in driving it......

DSC01987.jpg

A early Ford Mustang just for that Yank V8 sound....

DSC02260.jpg

DSC01069.jpg

And either a Triumph Stag or MGC Roadster for burbling down the country roads to the pub in the summer.......and perhaps the odd 'rally'.

How about:

2.7 RS
Bonneville Sprite
1650 Anglia
Lamborghini Jarama S
Mk1 Lotus Cortina

Then for everyday:

Cayman S
Peugeot 406 V6 Estate
Mazda E2000 Van.

2.7RS - yellow (PT's car)
2.8RSR - silver martini (Mikes)
964RS - black and orange (mine)
993GT2 - blood orange (Vic's)
997GT3RS - viper green (anyones)

Then I'd start building another garage......for the non-porsche

Sounds like 250GTO - I'm jealous!

Are they to look at, an investment or to drive??? I rather fancy the latter which means a blend of motors for all eventualities. The other problem is that whilst I love my cars I always wonder what all the others are like that I have yet to enjoy... it's a grass is greener issue and the same issues could be applied to all sorts of things!

A few that are on my mind....

- One of the RS breed, but oh which one? I do prefer my 993 clubbie to my '64RS (I know, I know)
- A caterham of some very sporty sort
- a famous race car, part of a legend but the maintenance is a sh@g... perhaps a classic ferrari because whatever Fezza you have it's going to break
- A classic(ish) bit of fun, how about an Eagle E-type with all mods?
- A daily drive with low key attitude, this might even be a diesel! 535d anyone or do you drum me out of the club?

There you go. Do you know how many times I've played this game while sitting at le mans by a bbq, 53 sheets to the wind?

Just had more thoughts on race car front.... the aston zagatos from around the same time as the 250gtos are gorgeous when I've seen them at Goodwood. Those model numbers might be a little bit awry, but bear with me as I'm no expert on that era
