Well lets pretend money no object and you can build one of the above narrow or wide bodied cars OR a mix of them .... so what would it be, maybe a bit of touring, basic, n-gt, cup car or RSR . ...

ENGINES ... 3.6/3.8 what spec?

Body ..... Wide, Narrow, spoiler high or active? Front Splitter/spoiler?

Interior ..... carpet/bare metal? Full cage half Cage no cage?

Seats ... Touring/basic/n-gt/RSR ...?

Roof ... Steel/sunroof ...?

Aircon ..... ?

Wheels ...... 18 bbs or Cups 17" or 18" whatever?

Transmission ....... 993 6 SPEED or 964 5 Speed

Suspension ..... ?

Colour ....... ?

Sound/Leccie windows etc?

Ok you asked. wide body shell with carbon bumpers, boot, roof and rear lid/ spoiler. Lightest 18 " wheels available and remote reservoir shocks with linear racing springs. Racing bucket seats, full cage. 3.8 engine on velocity stacks and motec, 993 RS box . Stack dash and carbon dash surround. Plastic windows where possible. solid bushings or rose joints in the suspension arms. quality floating discs and 6 pot calpers. At a push i could go the whole hog and say fit a full gt2 engine in there instead of the 3.8.

Wide body
Full welded in Matter cage
RSR rear spoiler
NO CARPETS!
Nomex Recaros
Sabelt Harnesses
Momo wheel
Gold BBS mag wheels
Bilstein struts on front
Bilstein shocks + H&R springs on rear
Fully rose jointed
3.3 Turbo engine at 1.02bar= 430lb/ft & 355bhp (on Wayne Schofield's dyno)
.....Built bespoke by Jurgen Alzen Motorsport DE 1992.
Not sure on colour???
[;)]

Thinking about swapping to a 993 Turbo engine...what do you think? Then it would be perfect?!

I tend to blow two ways (probably the Gemini side to me [&:])... I like cars to be either extreme or...

I've always been into 'Q' cars; you know, they look standard but aren't. If money was no object I think one car in my garage would be a 964 'RS' but... from the outside it would look standard - well mostly standard.... the only give away would be the wheels and tyres - wide and cambered, shod with R888's or similar; the body would be standard, colour would be subtle...

Underneath would be a different story:

Full welded cage, aka spaceframe... lowered, suitable dampers/springs, all adjustable from the cockpit for when it's needed... interior would be like an RS touring but lighter by clever use of materials... then under the engine cover... a 3.8 litre air-cooled flat six with twin superchargers... I think 650 bhp would be enough! [:D]

ENGINES ... 3.6/3.8 what spec? For engine note: 3.8 with individual throttle valves--i.e. RSR. For reliability, 3.6 or 3.8 in CUP specs.
Body ..... Wide, Narrow, spoiler high or active? Front Splitter/spoiler? For top speed, narrow; for looks wide.
Interior ..... carpet/bare metal? Full cage half Cage no cage? Bare metal, full cage (lightweight and better rigidity)
Seats ... Touring/basic/n-gt/RSR ...? Last year of the 993 CUP (more lateral support)
Roof ... Steel/sunroof ...? Steel
Aircon ..... ? Maybe.
Wheels ...... 18 bbs or Cups 17" or 18" whatever? 18" in whatever form you fancy
Transmission ....... 993 6 SPEED or 964 5 Speed? 993 six speed to prevent gaps on upshifts. Comparing the 6-speed 993 CUP with the 5-speed 964 RSR (and both were short-ratios) made me aware that 6-speed keeps you in the power band with more ease (i.e. less revs).
Suspension ..... ? 964 RSR or 993 CUP
Colour ....... ? White or Viper Green

Yes, but it will have to be a transformer [;)]

Narrow-body on the Kemel straight, wide-body in town
3.8 CUP engine for track days and 3.8 RSR engine for the odd morning blast.
White for track days and viper green for touring.

Wonder whether Olav could do this [8|][8|][8|]
ORIGINAL: oldtimer

Maybe Olav can knock one up to your spec Phil ? I'd take a 50% stake for continental track day use [:)]

I think a transformer would be fantasy Phil , and OK , Des used the word 'fantasy' in thread title.

However , getting back to real world , I would sponsor a 'bitza' car that looked like a 964 rather than a 993 or 996, and had at least 320 and preferably 350 hp. Weight to be 1100kg or less with near empty petrol tank but all other fluids loaded. I guess a 3.8 will deliver more than a 3.6 , dont care if Motec used , but must have a 6 speed box eg from 993 supercup with steel bearings etc. Porsche bodyshell and powerplant / drivetrain and open to using best of the rest for subsystems.

I understand 18 inch wheels give better performance than 17s , and wide range of tyres available.

Dont like fixed wings but suppose thats inevitable if we are going to get well over 150mph on track.

Viper green will do it. Not black or white or red or maritime or any of the many yellows.

Dont mind Olav benefitting from this , but it had better be reliable !!!!!

Dont mind sharing with up to 3 other people ,

John, this is dangerously close to a 993RS in a 964 shell ... !

Anybody for a supercharger ??

And of course, not road going and stripped to nothing for the track ....

Hmm, widebody of course... no wings for the Q car look to scare the living daylights out of everyone on the road including the driver... and Tim, I can tell you you don't need more than 450bhp/550nm if your weight is down to 1100kgs.. Speedline rims are a must and a full cage (if it's tastefully wrapped in leather).
Would possibly swap the motor out of mine (993 bi-turbo) for a 964 3.8 RSR spec, but you'd need to hang the wings back on it if you were going to track it regularly.

[:D] Wallet's out .......but not sure about this non-road going spec , means someone's got to deliver it to track .Need to form a consortium . Don't hang about , I don't have many driving years left [:D]

Could it be a Landrover and trailer job John ?

Paul and I spent all our time on the Ferry discussing this.

I've done 10,000 Km in mine since I got it onto the track at the last but one Oulton RS day !!!

You guys know more than me about what should and shouldn't be in the genes of this fantasy RS but I would definitely have to agree about it being a trailer only car.

There's something mystical about a car that wants only the track. Right from the time you pull out of your drive and set out on the journey in the early hours with the sleeping beast sitting silently behind you, the anticipation starts to build about the day ahead. You arrive with the early morning mist lifting and gently untie her shackles and gently persuade her to leave the carriage. There's no disent, just a murmuring squeal from the huge calipers as they grip the cold steel of the dinner plate size rotors, almost trying to steady herself as her rubber boots bite into tarmac she loves so much once again. It's still eerily quiet as you get her ready for the day. A quiet that is first broken by the glug of fuel that you poor into her thirsty neck and the odd squeek as the suspension settles under the weight. The next noise is the satisfying buzz from the dash board as electricity once again coarses through her harness and the sound of the fuel pump priming her for action. You hold your breath and press the starter...she coughs once...pops twice...coughs again....and then ROARS into life!!! It's time to get in she wants to go!! [:)]

I feel exactly the same way.... great words, worth being published.
