... and Tim, I can tell you you don't need more than 450bhp/550nm if your weight is down to 1100kgs

Need doesn't come into it! [:D] Having driven a road 993 Turbo with 650 bhp... want is the thing (but with superchargers to eliminate any lag. [;)])

SPECIAL DESSY SPEC:

Wide body;
Fuck off bi-plane rear wing;
Front splitter;
Loud colour -monkey bum pink, speed yello, dare I say mint green??
Matter cage;
Recaro seats;
18" Speedlines,
And a 2-litre engine....[:D][:D]

And Steve? I know exactly where you're coming from....

well a lot of folk have described their own cars - lucky you!! I think mine would be as follows.

Narrow body
big back wing
front splitter
BBS wheels (in gold) or mags (in black) cant decide
Full cage
car in speed yellow (in which case drop the bbs), or white.
Stripped interior, Recaros, but possibly a light carpet set in the back and on the sills
3.8 NA engine,. with 6speed box (but then a turbo for ultimate power might be nice, in which case stick with a 5speed)

Not as easy as first thought......I might have to come back to this one.

Hmm, widebody  of course... no wings for the Q car look to scare the living daylights out of everyone on the road including the driver... and Tim, I can tell you you don't need more than 450bhp/550nm if your weight is down to 1100kgs.. Speedline rims are a must and a full cage (if it's tastefully wrapped in leather).
Would possibly swap the motor out of mine (993 bi-turbo) for a 964 3.8 RSR spec, but you'd need to hang the wings back on it if you were going to track it regularly.

Any chance of giving us the low down on your car again bud? I remember the post you did the other year...your car is something else![:)]

mmmm....

Water cooled
Basalt black
Sports chrono pack
Electric seats
Heated seats
Park assist

Extended nav
Bose
Voice control
USB
Cruise control
Alloy gear stick
Alloy handbrake
Sports seats
Cup holders

Oops - sorry, forgot what a REAL car was all about and specced a 997 C4S. Why are Porsche and for that matter Porsche buyers missing the point? Dream car spec later.....................

Maybe this ......

Signal Green 993RS CS --- but "only" LHD [;)]

Agreed, fab.

But not as good as an N-GT. Imagine a car, designed to be so close to a cup car, but with a normal heater ?

Who leaned on whom at Porsche ?

Mine, which may be the earliest Vin at 9011, was sold to Ulrich Richter who had stopped racing for Porsche in 1983 and whom Porsche wanted to encourage back into the fold. So in November 1991 he bought my car new as a road car --- with bespoke ABS cut out "panic button" (probably for the Nurburgring), and in 1993 he rejoined Porsche. Unfortunately he was killed at the Nordeschleft in 1995 ? In a Porsche.

Viper Green 993 RS CS was 11,500,000 Yen back in June 2004 when it was for sale with the Garage that picture is from in Japan....any guesses what would it be worth now with the recent 993RS frenzy?

Frenzy is the word, prices have pulled a lot of cars into the market, I wonder where it will go from here ?

Europe is not the sponge it was ... the £ is 10% stronger relative to $ and Euro, this makes a difference.

Think we need to add Cup Car ABS!!!!!

Yes mix of sh****d road tyres, too long out, red mist and forgetting that you can't do the late brake skip and dance with the very reactive 964RS race sensitive tuned ABS ......... all cleaned out now

Mine was originally a RS 3.8 so widebody, clubsport (so one of 7 built apparently) hence full cage, with a light coating of leather on the interior to pretend it's civilised (hahaha), with the 3.8 N/A lump swapped for a Turbo Tecnic Pietz (Gemballa's engine boys I think) 993 Biturbo motor, feeding thru the standard RS 5 speed gives 450bhp, 550nm torque at 1 bar. No wings on it which makes it very "Q" but also a tad tricky at high velocities... does 0-60 in about 3, does 90 to 150mph in about 5 which to be honest is the really impressive bit. Accelerates all the way into the rev limiter in 5th apparently (I've run out of dangly ornaments at an indicated 180mph myself).
It's a superb spec, but I'd say it's prob a bit fierce to be perfect, you'd want to hang wings on it to track it as is, or swap the lumps back for road use. That said, it's very civilised off boost doing the school run, but you do leave 100m black lines if you should happen to be pottering up an incline and the turbos come in... I've an international race licence and I've done some scary stuff (LMP2 car flat thru Eau Rouge at the front of an Le Mans Series Post Pace Car restart, GT2 De Walt TVR thru Turn 8 at Istanbul in the wet etc) and the car remains "challenging"... hence my suggestion to Tim any more power than I am running requires some proper aero assistance!

Some great specs here... Think the key thing you all have to go for is the Speedlines... not claiming a wheel fetish but they are the one element of mine that REALLY makes me smile each time I lift the cover.

Cheers
Rick

A lovely car which I remember from Ragley.

But I have an aversion to Turbos ... my problem.

where does the term Infineon come from? Was that who did the conversion? Sounds like quite a car, like you say the pics look subtle in comparison to the spec.

Sounds like you've done some interesting stuff on the circuit too.

The boy who owned the car and "mucked it around" or "created it" depending on your point of view was Herr Dr Ulrich Schumacher, who was the boss of Infineon until caught up in some debate over certain things that may or may not have been crooked... he had a 50 car collection which as I understand included mostly Porsche's including 2 * 964 RS, my RS 3.8 and 2 * RSR race cars that had been built from bits. My car was built by his favoured mechanic/ tuning shop and was actually given to one of the other players in the "discussion" that led to the Herr Doctor catching his marching orders as compensation for the rest of the board cancelling a contract with them which would appear to have been awarded for the "wrong reasons", so was intimately caught up in the whole Infineon scandal, hence the name seems to have stuck as it's easier than trying to describe it each time!

On the race side, yes, I've been very lucky with the drives over the years: was 5th in the UK Clio Cup in 2000, raced the mid-engined nutter Clio V6 in 2001 and 2002 in Europe including a top 10 at Monaco GP support. Did European 2 litre Clio's in 2003 until a season ending somersault at Estoril, 2004 I raced the Tracsport Lola in LMP2 to 3rd in the LMES Championship. 2005 I had a one-off invitation to race the last international appearance of the TVR De Walt GT2 car at Istanbul in the LMES. Then I raced the Aiello BTCC winning Primera in the Dutch Super Cars for a couple of years (and am racing it in both the David Leslie Memorial Trophy at the Silverstone Classic and up the hill at the Goodwood Festival of Speed if anyone is coming along to those this year?) and now I'm in my second season with a 350Z in the European FIA GT4 cup.

(Sorry if anyone dozed off!)
