Farewell to my 968 Club Sport

Hi Jason,
it's been quite a journey over that 8 years, great car rebuilt by a great bloke, sorry you've sold it but obviously it was the right time.
Not sure there is another 968 like it, probably in the world.

Thanks Stu, we had some great meets over the years, many organised by yourself of which a huge thanks is always owed (don't appear to be so many meets now!) and of which i cherish the memories of good times, great people with the same interest at heart.

Well, you can't keep a good man down....i've been trying to buy one of a couple of early 70's BM's but to no avail. One is almost certainly not acqirable in the short term, the other is a complete and utter mess, but is still a possibility if only a price could be agreed. Nevertheless, i've just bought.....another CS!!! This is only an interim car, will likely keep until next Spring and use more as daily. Fairly standard, lots of M030 bits and currently having a little JP magic waved over it. A good honest useable car with some ticks in the boxes.... not a patch on the condition of the white one but never will be. Bought to use, looks tidy and will not be messed with. Anyone up to meet for Pauls Oulton race mid August?

Photos to follow in a couple of weeks due to it being 'stuck' in my garage. I had an altercation with the race car last weekend and its in the way for now.

JP

You didn't stay away for long Jason!

Good to hear you've got another one....go on, spill the beans on what you're tinkering with on this one!

"¦here we go again"¦.now purchased another 968 for a daily drive for a whilst "" just to see what a standard car drives like! Black, CS decals, no sunroof, buckets, M030 arbs, hubs, hub carriers, brakes. Have just replaced pu/skirt/door handle/mirror seals/beading, repainted the skirts and it is on for belts/chain at the end of the week. Photos very soon.

BUT, since buying this, rather unexpectedly I have just acquired what I originally set out for and the CS may be moving on in a few months!!! I have followed this particular car for a couple of years, the previous owner having spent quite a lot on precisely, the bodykit , engine, plastic glass, cage I was after, notwithstanding some valuable wheels and original rear spoiler!

"¦it does need some work though. It will ultimately be a wide arched race car reproduced in the style of the 70's ETCC racers. And, you know me with detail"¦.i do have my work cut-out on this one though!

looks great Jason ......... and most of that will polish out ..... be ready in no time [;)]

.......... Jason, you are either one of the most courageous car restorers around..... or you need psychological help !! you choose.

Kudos Jason for having a go at such a mammoth project, Batmobile's are amazing and the fact you're doing it in the ETCC style is just pure class.

Good luck and keep us all posted.

Excellent stuff Jason, you wanted one of them back when I spoke you in 2004 - good to see you have finally got one.

Do keep us up to date with some pictures of how you are getting on - don't think I'm the only one here who would like to see your nut and bolt rebuild of this one!
