"Faye" fails the NCT HELP...!

"Faye" (The Track Bitch) has failed the NCT on 1 minor and 2 majors...[]

The brake lights flicker when the clutch is depressed ( I thought that was Thomas's driving..[&:])

One of the rear wheel bearings are slack

The emissions are really bad 7.2 % CO (Should be <3.5%)

The first 2 are an easy fix but I am going to try and get the emissions down to an accepable level. This is the reason for bad fuel consumption I am guessing.

My question to the experts... Is the AFM the only way the ECU controls fuelling ...? Is there any "trick" I can perform for the retest or will I change out the AFM .... ?

Cheers in advance lads [;)]

My 88 Lux has a switch on the side of the ECU(DME) this can change fuelling. Cant remember but found a list on a website about all the different settings (I think about 6 in all).

When mine had high CO (and flames out the back) it was due to the AFM and part of the track had worn out.

Well tested the AFM according to Clarkes guide and at rest and fully opened it was ok. About 30-80% open it was not responding at all. We changed the AFM complete and the car runs a bit better. We have to take her to a m8s garage for a wee CO test to make sure its ok for the retest next wed morning.....[;)]

The brake light switch was loose and any movement set the switch off.... Sorted

We adjusted up the wheel bearing and its fine but may need replacement soon... Sorted

With all the issues with the AFM Faye may be getting a manual boost controller, chip upgrade and a mass airflow sensor ....! Watch this space... Thomas has put these items down as "running costs" [:D]

Thomas is on the "slippery slope" offically .. just to really tease him I dug out the article on Paul's LIL from last year.... [:D]

Cheers again lads for your help [;)]
