Ferrari 944 or Porsche 250?

Talking of Lancia`s..................

This was at the Retro Cars meet at Santa Pod last year (one of the best outings each year in my opinion)

Lovely car - I do like Lancias and have had three in my time. Its another automotive itch I am going to have to scratch again someday.

I saw that at "Italian Sports" do at Stamford Hall over the summer, looks very well engineered, would certainly give a few cars a bit of a shock!
I've had 3 Lancias too and was looking for another when I came across 944's!

Nah, no-one would bother if it was in the thousands of hours.

I see you may have one but I cant see how its anything like that in my opinion, and I`ve built/rebuilt/repaired a few cars incl kit cars in my time

Unless you are fabricating each and every bit by hand I`d agree with Neil but would say within 500 hours if a perfectionist, a bit more if you want to complicate it. They are, after all, only a kit of parts that needs fettling.

Dont take my word for it look here http://www.stratossupersite.com/forum/showthread.php?t=7783re

I originally took the easy route and bought mine fully built but following being T boned by a young loon have spent a long time rebuilding my example into a car fit for the forests. Mine is not a Hawk kit and as such yes it all needs hand made.

I know a lot of Hawk owners, even some who have built there own but not one thinks you can put a Hawk together in anything approching 400 hours.

A good number of those on the road have been through several owners who give up at the effort involved and sell on.

Almost wish I had bought a porsche instead would have been a quicker route and possibly cheaper as well[:)]

Which Lancias have you owned Mike ? I have had a two HPE's - one a 2000ie which was my first ever car and rusted away horribly, the other an immaculate Volumex which I should never, ever have got rid of. [&o]

Also had a Delta HF Turbo on which I spent a small fortune (for me at the time at least !) only for it to be written off when my bank manager crashed into me ! [&:]

76 1600 HPE series 1 1/2 my first car also rotted away so then 80 1600 Berlina (the saloon and always rare!) then a fantastic 83 2000 HPEie 100k and 11 yrs old and the only rust was slight on the drivers door. only sold as exwife damaged back putting no 1 daughter in car seat in back and no 2 daughter was due.
Wish I could have kept it!
Theres a pic of it with the saloon in the background in PP Aug 09

if a Hawk takes 1000 hours plus then its not a kit car!

What do you get for your money? I`m going to research this, especially if there are unfinished ones out there [8D]

If you have to spend hours and thousands either fabricating or having bits fabricated then its bound to puit people off!
