Fibreglass panels

Hi all,
My front wings have rust chips, and bumper has had bad repairs in the past so was thinking of getting fibreglass front wings and front bumper for my turbo (also like the idea of weight loss). Has anyone used or seen the pro-9 wings and bumper.
All advice welcome.

Most fibreglass is somewhere between doesnt fit at all to barely fits... Tielecar's stuff may be better: it certainly looks it. The prices for pair-type items is for pairs (wings and door etc).

The Teilecar parts do look like very accurate copies of a factory part, however they are also very expensive. The panels made by ClubAutosport for example are not so great reproductions of factory parts and heavier then the Teilecar panels. However they are dirt cheap and very suitable for a race/track car as they can fix them for you as local to us in the UK if required.
You pays your money you takes your choices as they say.

I emailed the fellow (Marek) about his prices Neil, to confirm that theyre for pairs. When you consider how rubbish the GT-Racing panels fit is and their prices (especially from their European comedian / agent) then these are pretty keen. I dont think that the doors are out of the way at £530 and £315 for a pair of 951 wings (with vents if you fancy and they used to cost £250 before the exchange rate crashed). The real test is in the fitting though and some panels represent better value than others. I like the doors, vented wings, 937 rear arches and 924 rear under-body spoiler. The bonnet is attractively light but Id sooner spend a third of the price with Simon at Pro-9 and get to work with my Dremel [:D]

Funnily enough out of the kit I got through Kev by far the best made bit is the bonnet. Barry has got the front end on my race car done now, when it came down to it, it was actually pretty easy according to him, I think he just needed to know more to get confidence with it. Basically the whole lot needs jiggering about (is that the right expression [:D]) to make it all fit together. The shut gaps are OK, its only really the gap between the doors and wings that is a little bigger then stock. Still though as you say its a lot more work then just bolting on factory parts.

That's who I used and can highly recommend, Simon and Alan are able to get good panels at very reasonable prices (and fit them too if required).

^^^ There posts a man who has looked at his bank balance and then at the price lists of the manufacturers of fibreglass panels and back again, on many an occasion ... :ROFLMAO:

Simon - Pro-9's (sold too by EMC) panels are pretty cheap really. <£150 for a bonnet and well under £100 each for wings isnt bad at all. Unfortunately he doesnt offer 951-type wings (his are 944-type with a modified to fit these 951-style front 'PU').

[&o] I was getting so excited reading that until I got to the non-951 bit! MarkK's car looked excellent though? Were those really early shape wings?

p.s. Cheers Paul my googling skills are clearly inferior to your own[;)]

Id call to be sure, but thats my understanding and certainly how it was. Id use GRP wings and bonnet with an original PU and aluminium bumper personally.

On Marks car I am pretty sure the answer is Yes, its only a problem with respect to the badge panel and headlight covers as the curvature round the front of the car is different on a lux to an S2/turbo. I think if you look closely at one of the pics of Marks car you can see the gap between the badge panel and the front fibreglass (PU) bumper.

I cant decide. Given the quoted 5-6kg weight of the teilecar panels which cant be too far off the standard panel weight? I'm not sure its worth the hassle on my road car. It seemed an appropriate time to fit fibreglass panels when I'm about to pay for a full respray anyway but for the effort, reduction in finish and small gains I'm not sure its worth it.

My friend advises me its only really worth doing in carbon fibre because you can get the panels so much thinner and a better finish but the cost is sky high!

I picked up the metal front wing, then the grp version the metal one was way heavier(dont forget the seal underneath),the metal bonnet is SO heavy its unbelievable the grp one is lighter and doesn't wobble or flex when driving but the finish of the grp is a bit imperfect ,one day i would just like to get a carbon bonnet and leave it unpainted. The front P.U is as thin as tupperware and much lighter also than the original. On a pretty road car i would have no problems with the front wings though painted nice.Wonder what it(the car) weighs exactly?
My front wings were 951/s2 shape.

That settles it Mark. I think I'm going to need to give Pro-9 a call. Although I wasn't concentrating on the panels having seen your car in the flesh, if they do 951 shape panels so I don't need to have them modified I think I'll regret not doing it while I have the chance.

Unless Simon has added 951 wings, then I suspect that Kevin procured Marks wings and PU from CAS.

Hi all, I phoned pro9 about the wings and bumper. The wings are a mould of the non turbo wing and need changing to fit the turbo bumper. There turbo style bumper they do is to fit a non turbo car.
