Fibreglass panels

ORIGINAL: RUMS944

Hi all, I phoned pro9 about the wings and bumper. The wings are a mould of the non turbo wing and need changing to fit the turbo bumper. There turbo style bumper they do is to fit a non turbo car.

That is true in a sense but you will find that probably the majority of 944's racing in this country in recent years have these parts and a lot of those will be S2's. It all works if you also remove the badge panel and headlights to replace with the one piece FG moulding shaped to look like a badge panel with 2 headlights.

BTW I was on the phone with Barry this evening about the race car, he has done the front end but tells me its a good 20 hours work to trim and adjust the various panels to fit together nicely with nice even shut gaps.

Update, more like 30 hours work once the bonnet is on with the aerocatches done. My car is almost there now, phew [:)]. Barry has a pretty good understanding of how to do this all now but I don't think he enjoyed getting more bits of fibreglass stuck in hands.

Have you bought a transponder Neil?,i nearly collapsed when i heard the price [&:]
When are we going to see some pics!!??[:)]

Funny you mention that one Mark, I had a look for one a couple of months back, found a link on ebay for an outfit selling off refurbed and/or just cheap transponders but they had all sold out. I stopped looking when I read the regs for the Castle Combe club championship seemed to say that they provide their own transponders.

I should have some nice piccies in the next few days, the car is basically ready to go up to EMC so there will be lots of piccies coming over the next few weeks.

Castle combe championship??My car is going to EMC on monday for fitment of transponder and a couple of other things really hadnt budgeted for the transponder, was mortified when i realised i needed one but its only needed once hopefuly..!Are you still doing the FCs??My Classic sports car club stickers came through (seems like a nice freindly club so far, rules not too many but they are equally enforced to all members apparently...ahem..) for application they also gave me a number 87 same as my house[:)]
Looking forward to seeing your racecar, very excited about this season[:D]

Thanks Mark, it will be great to see your car in the flesh as well. Mine should be winging its way up to EMC very soon so there is a chance that if your in there over the coming weeks you might see it.

On the Combe championship I need to talk to them about it, only going so far on cars I have seen racing there and their regs. Basically decided that I should stick to my original plan that I had last spring, which went something like: Track days - develop car - cheap racing - develop car - PCGB Championship. I also realised over the winter that it would be best for me to concentrate on getting both myself and the car optimised at one track, try to master that track then move on to other tracks. Also helps that with a road legal car and a local track its very convenient to concentrate on Combe. What I will be doing in this plan also depends on my pace, as in my progress will dictate where I go and when (if possible of course). I have always said that I wanted to target class 2 in the club championship BUT I just wouldn't bother doing it unless I had already demonstrated to myself a competitive pace. If the car had of been built to the original schedule I would have been doing Future Classics last year and if enough progress made class 2 in the club this year. Likewise if my progress is very slow I may stay down here and just venture North for track days. If my progress is somewhere in between you will no doubt see me on a Future Classics grid, assuming they have the places of course.
